It is VERY likely the salesperson you dealt with had never even seen a rotary car before.
When you try and explain it they generally get this glazed look..
I guess thats why the back of the building is call "fixed operations"

XDEEDUBBX, I want to hehe with you but explain AEM. Its funny you installed race cams when that's impossible with a rotary. Well you could but they would just be added weight. Perhaps the race cams could be installed near the air cleaner one for each side.

ON A DYNO - YES, turning off the DSC WILL result in a higher HP reading. Not because the engine is actually making more power, but because the ECU is too smart, and sees the rear wheels spinning while the front wheels are stationary, declares that a problem, and reduces engine power when DSC is on. So, that result (DSC off making more power) is a totally artificial situation where the ECU reduces power on a dyno because of the wheel speed differences. Again, on the road, that doesn't happen, and DSC will make no difference to power output.

I disagree... DSC does reduce power as required to keep the car's stability and this happens while on the road.

Wow, finally someone whos not calling me stupid. Thanks Neit =). Actually he wasnt a salesperson but a marketing researcher and he told me this AFTER i bought the car, and not even from him. He was a friend of a friend but I don't think its such an absurd idea. It would account for why our 8s have been dynoing at such a low number. Have you guys heard that the new M5 actually runs at 400hp until you hit a switch before the full 500 hp kicks in? BMW did that mainly for mileage reasons, maybe mazda too. Thanks for the flames guys...my butt is charcoal.

Maybe that's why I notice a difference in both "power" and "fuel economy" or could it just be a placebo effect?

one push puts DSC to sleep. but it will still come back on by itself when the pcm decides it needs to interfere or if you push the button again. a long 8-10 second hold of the button turns off the DSC and TCS completely and neither will come back on until the car is turned off and restarted. this is true for all rx-8s with DSC and TCS. Read Your Manual.

I was referring to my driving habit, as in, I drive with it "either on or full off, no in between for me", meaning I don't believe in having partial assistance, either it's with DSC or nothing while driving
