Checking in with 142k New England miles on my 04 with original engine & clutch. Only major repair was new catalytic converter at 75k. Still runs great and looks like new.

Although I am trying to get the engine replaced before then, because that is when my warranty is up and I'm almost sure the compression is low enough.
Your warranty is already up. 8 yrs / 100,000 miles.

This thread makes me feel confident. Bought my 8 with 75k a year ago. Currently has 82k (yeah I don't do much long distance driving). Oil changes with Rotella T6 5w40. Hoping to make it to 100k+.

My 142k New England miles on my 2004 are all season (as long as there is no snow on the road) and mixed driving conditions - I do commute into Boston in heavy traffic with a lot of stop and go, as well as highway driving. I've done tires (I get about 35k miles per set and I've stuck with the OEM tires), brakes, rear shocks, ignition wires (twice), and a catalytic converter. I get the oil changed about every 4k miles. Mazda dealer has done all the service (I am his highest mileage RX8). Original engine and clutch. Still runs great. Garaged at work and at home, regularly hand washed and dried. Looks like new. My wife and kids can't drive a stick so it's all mine! Love the car.

Smile Still purr'n along!

Just passed 125K recently. Have original engine, clutch, catalytic converter, etc. I do oil changes and tire rotations every 3K miles. Recently replaced brakes and rotors on all wheels along with a couple of new tires. Have never had any major problems I can't take care of myself (knock on wood!). I have replaced the ignition coils, plugs (I only did it once, they are a bitch to get to), rear O2 sensor (I bought it and paid a garage $20 to install it), and platinum Diehard battery (much better than OEM Mazda battery). I regularly get 20 +/- 2 mpg on the highway and closer to 18 +/- 2 mpg in regular commute driving. Car runs great and I'm thinking of replacing the stock silver-painted rims with some alloy rims to dress it up a bit. Any suggestions on good rims to get?

I'd like to measure her "runout".

Maybe place my dial indicator on her front housing and check her "endplay".

CA

checking in at 116,721... haha!! i know i need new spark plugs, wires, and ignition

coils... i like replacing all of them at the same time since i'mm already there...

anyway, i'm running castrol gtx 5w30... i ran 10w40 since 95k miles, and went to

5w30 on my recent oil change... i've been running redline mt-90 for trans, and

redline 75w90 for my differential... just added oil catch can, cuz for the longest time i

haven't checked my air fiter, finally opened it up 2 mos. ago, then baaayymmm... oil

inside my airbox, and intake tube, fixed that after adding the catch can... car experienced aggressive canyon runs, but i leave that job on my r1 now since it's

more fun on a bike, took it to irwindale on the summer of 2010, took it to adam's racepark last 2010 for their thursday night drifting events, and did bunch of

immature drifting on the street, and abandoned warehouse in moreno valley... despite of all that hard driving, i really take care of her, and no more aggressive

driving for her... overall... i'm amazed, and very happy that my car still runs very strong, and i still love it...

Congrats to all the new 100k+ cars this year so far. Now we can set our sights on 200K !

I'm a 186k so far. Replaced the original at 146k due to internal coolant leak. Saved som bucks with a good salvage engine that had 66k on the clock. The second engine now has about 106k on it and is still running strong.
