Was that BG Synchroshift or BG Synchroshift II. When I looked it up, aparently they are two different products.

2004, MT, 125,000 miles, southern Cal. NO ENGINE PROBLEMS.

2nd set of coils and spark plugs. All original equipment and no mods. Always used 5w20 and never pre-mixed. I almost always redline to burn out carbon deposits but, importantly, only after warming up cruising on the fwy for 15-20 min.

See this thread.

To summerize................She was told by a friend she needed a new motor. We took a look and got it running.............all is fine as of 2/23/09. It was severely flooded and had some other small issues along the way.

It's an 04 Auto with about 155k miles on it.

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/rx8-sale-needs-new-motor-repaired-update-163605/

Most interesting posts are further down where we actually talk about what we did.

I don't know the cars exact history, but....................I believe it is original motor. Might have had a new CAT installed at some point in the past.

I'm now an official member of the 100,000 mi. club. I'm on my 3rd engine and have 35 track events. I have no plans to get rid of this car and look forward to the next 100,000. I do believe we should have a 200,000 mi. club starting sometime in the next year or so.

Ack I forgot to post in this thread!

106,000 miles. Original motor and transmission and only today replaced the clutch. I have 6 track events as well as over a dozen autocross events, about 25 passes at the drag strip and countless mountain runs.

Thumbs up

purchased 10/05
been using 5-20 oil from the beginning.
Used to run 87 octane gas but recently switched to 93.
Original coils, plugs and wires were replaced at 115,00.

Only problem I have had was the heat control unit died in 11/08 and was replaced under extended warranty.

Most of my driving is highway, never tracked, and still is a pleasure to drive.

Thanks for the info....How long did you run plugs? You did not get 115K out of plugs(we've seen some get 50K) Why the switch in gas? Where are you located?

100k is nothing if you gone through several engines. In the interest of advancing knowledge, check out this thread for ppl that have 100k+ on original original engines. If you're are one of the "lucky" ones, please post your info about maintenance, premix, oil, etc. I been wanting to get a mod to sticky the thread...

When I started this thread my intention was that it only be for original engines. See first page first post for all my details. I'm at 138,000 now and still zoom zooming.
