those are all great stories. here's some for ya.

I was going to the beach just south of muskegon michigan. I parked next to a restaurant right behind a gorgeous masseratti. and when I get out a gentleman steps up and says wow that is a beautiful ride it must hae cost you a fortune. I say ya it cost a lil bit. he goes on looking at it in aww. then says to enjoy the day. as he gets in the masseratti and drives off.


another time I was in bellevue washington just outside seattle. driving down the road I stop at a light. and on my right a ferrari pulls up and gives a head nod. and then in the turn lane on my left what to me looked like a gumpert apollo (wasnt totally sure) pulls up with his window down rolls up as he shouts out wow nice car what is it? I replied its an rx8. his response is huh haven't heard of that. and as the light changed he shouted nice car again.
that felt good since there was a gorgeous ferrari next to me.

OK IM ABOUT TO MAKE YOU AND A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE PRICE OF THER CAR PAYMENTS AND CAR INSURANCE.

ok I special ordered my car from japan. had it delivered to oxmoore mazda in louisville ky.

my car cost me $56,000
that comes to a monthly bill of $769.69 a month.
and given my location my age and driving record the best insurance rate I could find at the time was $463 a month.

well a uear goes by of loing my 8 going eerywhere and doing everything. then I decide I want to park it for my second montana winter. so I pull the biggest no no of all.

I rent my storage then call and cancel my insurance ( saying I have a new provider) of course it was just gonna be insurance free for 5 months.
well my storage was in another town so I take off down the road to missoula. when I hit a deer head on doing 65 my hood smashed my windshield my radiator leaks my bumper and left head light gets smashed. I get cleared to drive it home. that's was two years ago almost and it still is in storage uninsured broken and only started and driven when im in town to maintinance it.

now that's a WTF was I thinking

So i was driving and some UPS guy was cutting me off, so i passed him and i saw two motorcycle cops stopping one guy, i was like EEEE sucks to be him lol. so as i passed the cops, one of them stared at me, and i was like what ever, so im already hitting a intersection and turning all of sudden, im my rear view mirror i see the bike cop, he flipped on his lights and i pulled over. cop gets off his bike comes to my window and says

Cop: Do you know its illegal to rev your car
Me: what do you mean? i didn't
Cop: Do you have a after market exhaust?
Me: No, I have a MazdaSpeed CAI but thats legal
Cop: what the heck? it was your intake making all that noise?
Me: yeah sorry :[
Cop: Can i see your license and insurance?
Me: Here you go
Cop: Ok well im gonna give you warning, your free togo
Me: Thanks :D lol have a nice day.

Yeah the cop thought my intake was the exhaust HAHA!!!

You must have been somewhere around Park Place LTD, because I was from there too. God... I missed my 05 WB 8, but I was forced to sell it due to a major career move. The good thing is that my new work place has no less than FIVE RX-8, and one of them being an original Shinka too!!

Well in my case is not a matter of finance but personnel, as no one can take care of my 8 when I am out of country, and I don't have enough time to found storage...

Now this got me thinking: is it possible to locate my 8 again via VIN? I only have the last 6 digits of my VIN memorized. So if you happen to found a used 2005 WB 8 with the last 6 of the VIN as "147474", then please by all means let me know.

Wow, that's worse than me. I pay $1450 for a year insurance. But for the car I paid about $55,000 at the time. And that's 2004 US model. I'm obviously not in the US though

The sad thing is I get less attention than in my other car..

The good thing is my girlfriend came around to appreciate the RX-8 as a "nice car" - she used to think they were too flashy, but is cool with it now, and even points out how many people stare at it while driving.

My most WTF story up to this point was when a rent-a-cop (security officer) in a Crown Vic tried to race me the first day I got the car - I declined.

So my wife and I were coming back from a nice Sunday drive exploring covered bridges. As we're getting into town, a VR6 Jetta next to us starts revving and gets on it a couple times. Apparently he thought my wife (who was driving at the time) wanted to race. She does drive the car like she stole it (as she should) and rev-matches on downshifts, but in no way was she trying to race. As we come to the next stop light, the Jetta driver and his girl look over, and my wife just starts to laugh. They ended up getting boxed in by a truck and a van.

Recently pulled into the parking lot of a golf tourney I had never played before and therefore only knew a few folks. Many head turns and a number of "that must have cost allot...." And this in the close presence of a Boxster and an S2000.

Kids seem to like it the most and of course I too get some of the 'oh, it's a Mazda' stigma.

I had to use my 8 to jump start a company van a few weeks ago, and one of my co-workers stopped by on her way into the building to see if I needed help. She started asking how many cylinders my 8 has, thinking that her Tahoe might be a better vehicle to use to jump it. I replied that I don't have cylinders, and she looked at me like I was stupid, "Uh, ALL cards have cylinders!". She kept insisting that mine had to have cylinders, so I dropped the issue....and then sent her an email with the rotory animation


A gas station attendant in NJ asked me about the 8 2 weeks ago on a trip through. When I told him that it doesn't have cylinders, "it spins more like a jet engine", he sat their trying to imagine a V8 spinning around the drive shaft. The look on his face was priceless.
