Since the RX-8 IAT is part of the MAF how did you install it? The person selling it on Ebay most likely has never even seen an RX-8.

look guys, this thread has made it to 4 pages with all insults to the module and me. Obviously this "chip" is doing more harm than good if you guys keep insulting me. So whatever, I'll prob just take it out, as annoyed as I am, I trust the 100% negative feedback I recieved from all of you. Thanks for making it evident this module is bad, no thanks for the insults. Since no one will believe the "test" results, im not going to waste my time, gas, and rubber doing it. Thanks for the input, its about time this stupid thread ended....

Hey man, don't be intimidated so easy. If you get past the sarcasm, basically most folks in the thread are bringing up valid points of contention, if you disagree then do your research and come back with an informed opinion. I will totally admit I am wrong if in fact I am proven wrong. If you simply made an impulse buy and are now thinking you may have pulled a bonehead move, then well at least it was only for $12, no biggie. Feel bad for the guys shelling out hundreds of bucks for exhaust or intake changes to find out they make the same or less power...no bueno.

Here is a good bonehead move on my part, the day AFTER I told th shop to order my autometer cobalt gauges, I found the prosport gauge thread....there is a few hundred bucks I could have saved.

Noooo it's a real shame how most of you doubters really don't have a clue as to how most chips work, yet everyone wants to jump on the HATE bandwagon and say it's a waste without doing your own testing. Let me clue most of you in on something. Most chips work by changing the resistance in the air flow meter and trick the ecu into thinking the engine is getting more or less air. Rotaries make more hp when they run leaner. So for an Rx8 chip or resister to improve performance, it would have to manipulate the air flow meter resistance so the ecu thinks the engine isn't getting as much air so it cuts back fuel delivery and changes timing. This change will raise the A/F ratio and increase HP. More air and less fuel = much hotter spark and bang for more power. Some of you doubters need to get a clue.

By the way I'm am not a salesman or promoter for these items. Just someone who understands how they work!

Is the cost of the chip relevant? Nope! You didn't read my post did you? I was explaining in general how they work since there was so much hating going on. I understand there's more to it with the more complex rx8 electronic system. Curious have you personally seen one of these mods work? I have. If you haven't then your the judgemental clueless one.

sorry,

this thread is about the mod on an rx8... i know how they claim to work, and on some cars they might, a little..

but that is not what this tread is about.

btw, i agree with you on you octane posts for the most part.

Im not so much intimidated, after reading a few of the comments of how this module might hurt my car, im kinda nervous about it. I know its helping the performance, which I was willing to test until everyone said they wouldnt believe it anyway, but im honestly not sure if its hurting anything. My brother had one on his 350Z along with a K&N typhoon and HKS catback, and nothing went wrong at all ever for the 20K miles he put on it before he sold it. In fact he used to make fun of me for my car being in the shop all the time. So, that was what I based my decision on about this "module". B/C I thought it was bs at first too, but I figured I'd try it out and return it(which I was planning on) if it sucked. But it actually made a difference. Im just nervous about it breaking something in my car, my cars already had enough problems.

I think if you don't know how it exactly works and what it affects, you shouldn't be adding it to your car.

You just know the basic concepts to the electric plan, but there are far more factors involved in the real life situation (as swoope mentioned to you earlier.) Everyone should stop fighting the grain here, it doesn't work and you're not going to prove that is works (especially on the rx8's pcm.) Why do you think everyone is saying it won't work?? you think we're saying it just to get you upset?? no we're saying it to help you save some money and a little time. Respect the veterans here, they've been testing this stuff for YEARS now.

I'm pretty sure if those things actually worked on our cars we'd all have one by now and when you had made this thread you'd have heard comments like "It's about time you got one noob!"

But uh. Whenever the whole community says they don't work and it'll possible cause damage to your car, I think it would be a good idea to just think that the performance gain you're seeing is just all in your head and take the chip out before your car has some type of serious issue

My guess is that the guy selling these has a box full of the same 50cent part that he sends off no matter what the car is . What an awesome business !!!!!
What I can't understand is how people get away with selling this kind of stuff .

Good job. I know we all made some asinine remarks, but there is no way that thing could help your car. It's better that you took it off.

Its not over.
You defended it despite any logic to the contrary and now you must pay the price until we feel like letting you off the hook.
That is how it works.

haha as my homegirls would say, "awww."

kudos to the OP for taking out the resistor. i apologize to the OP for making remarks earlier, i really thought you were a troll or an ebay seller. you have to admit though, some posts were funny, yeah? but yeah dude, that resistor can do no good, because if i saw that in your rx8, or any other car, when you took it in for service, i would definitely recommend for your warranty to be voided (i know i'm a hater). i thank you as a fellow rx8 owner for taking it out the car.

This thread will never end! We have to make an example of you so no one else tries to get one of these chips.
