What are your thoughts on transmissions now that you've upped your power? For example, are you happy with what you've got, are you looking to avoid running where heat may be a problem, are you fitting an oil cooler or are you looking to see how it goes?

FWIW I'm concerned about temperatures on track with my EFR 7060 build so am fitting a transmission oil cooler.

I haven't pushed this setup yet.
My only transmission finding so far is I prefer the Jdm rx-8 5spd over the stock 6spd.
I'm going to see how it goes but I don't think i'll need a trans cooler.
Dan would be a good person to ask about adding one.

Also, do you think that 7060 is to small? What's your reason for not going with a 8374?
8374 is great, down low response is just there and now.
I'm extremely please with it.

Steve, thanks.

Apologies, that should be EFR 7670. I wobbled backwards and forwards over 7670 or 8374, eventually deciding that the lower power/quicker response was better for my use than higher power.

Yep
I would install a speed sensor to ensure he's not over spinning it too.

I've a fully ducted 3" x 12" x 18" Garrett core (lovely design and build with proper cooling fins) exhausting out the bonnet (plug for my aerodynamics thread here) with a temperature gauge giving me both inlet and outlet temperatures and a plan to fit water injection if needed. I want to avoid hijacking Cran's build thread so please save any discussion for mine that I'll put up over the weekend.

I like the idea of a speed sensor as it takes me back to my days dealing with military jet engines. However, quite a few FDs have the 7670 and AFAIK nobody has reported problems; additionally, cost is an issue as sensors are $250 over here and there's wiring, controller/processor and display to pay for too (I'm looking to fit the Adaptronic ECU and a Nexus tablet, and will look to see what that can do when I get time).

Have fun! Oh did I mention you are a bad influence? You are making it really hard not to get an RX8 and do REW things to it.

Just so happens I have an REW and a GT40RS waiting for an engine bay to rest in.

DGRR 2016 was great had a blast again, lots of great people and rotaries there. Already itching to go back.

I'm thankful to have won First Place RX-8 for DGRR 2016 at the car show.
There were lots of really nice 8's that showed up.
More pics and videos to follow later.
