Just a note... I use the same cans for my coolant, oil blow back, and washer fluid setup. Keep an eye on the coolant level window. I had one get brown and brittle and blow out on me on the interstate... I think the coolant's heat and corrosive nature essentially dry rotted the tube. I figure it should be changed every few years to prevent problems...

I had to rob the one off my washer fluid tank...
If you find somewhere to get replacements of the same size etc, let me know... I'm going to buy like 5~10 extra.

Ticks over very nicely, and seeing your cleanliness and shine still makes me go soft inside. What ECU did you fit (it was on your earlier list of things changed, presumably from the original Int X)?; I see your RX8 TB so presume you have DSC working but I can't see a MAF.

Thx man, I'm still using the int-x for breakin. I'll be switching to the Adaptronic ecu once that's over.
Everything on the car works as normal but I have no cat and no air pump.
MAF is attached to TID but the inter-x doesn't use it, it's a MAP based ecu.

Pulled her outside to clean up the garage.
Just gotta button up some lose ends and I'll be done for now until she's broke in.
Then the next step is install adaptronic, ID injectors, flex fuel senor and surge tank.

Also took her around the block and I can tell I'ma love this EFR turbo!
If your in doubt just buy one you'll be happy you did.

Nice, I like how the crash bar holes turned into little cubby holes for the fuel pump resistor and other things Any cooling issues with that monster intercooler out front?

I'm running RX8Performance cooling mod and just stock radiator/fans, I've never had any cooling problems.
Been drag raced, autox several times and up to Deals Gap, 3 times with zero cooling issues.
I think Deals Gap is a good test it's 318 turns in 11 miles with crazy elevated/banked turns up in the mountains and believe me she was beat on pretty bad up there.... never went above 200.
Also never any issues in the F'in HOT Florida summer while sitting at traffic lights and such with the a/c on.

I second how cool the Rx8 set up is. I am also running the stock radiator/fans, and oil coolers. I've been on the road course driving hard on a 80 degree day and never went over 180 on the water temp. I too have a big FMIC. There is a nice size gap between the intercooler and radiator.

I'm confused on how effective conversion cooling systems are as I've had seemingly as many "I've had real problems" as "no problems with stock" like those here. The main thing is that the owner is happy as is the case here.

That said, even if coolant and oil temperatures remain under control, intercooler performance may not be as good as it could be and some perfectionists (as I am here, due to a past life more than personality) will question how much drag is created (see the bits I've done so far on aerodynamics here.).

For what it's worth, I'm fitting a thick aluminium rad with uprated fans and will either be doing something like the rxperformance mod or perhaps just a switched earth for low working. I'm planning on using the stock twin oil coolers with new hoses and oil filter relocation. I've also got an intercooler in & out temperature gauge so I can check out my design.

Glad I'm not the only one w a swapped 8 that doesn't have any issues.

Your right, it's weird why some 8's run hot and some don't.
But honestly im not worried about it cause I've haven't had any temp issues in 4yrs.

looks like your fans are pretty unrestricted . Maybe that is the key to it .....

I am however running oversized coolant lines to and from the radiator and oversized oil line. With an in-line filter.

Ignore the wiring mess. It's only temporary.

Could be
So for everyone with temp problems you need to get rid of all the crap that's restricting them.

Steve, did you use a non-standard bracket for your EFR 8374's actuator or modify the arrangement in some way?

I ask as I cannot get my EFR 7670 turbine housing and actuator in the same layout as yours without exceeding the 20 degrees maximum CHRA orientation when using the supplied actuator bracket and 3 mounting holes. AFAIK the 7670 and 8374 have the same design of bracket and mounting holes, albeit different sizes.

For the benefit of others reading:
The first attachment is an earlier image from fireCran: looking from the front, the turbine flange seems to rise at 30 deg ish from left to right and the actuator to be at the 7 o'clock position.
I also attach an image showing the mounting holes on the CHRA around only 3/4 of the circumference.

I used the standard one that comes with the EFR 8374.
No modification but i did move the bracket down one hole.
Make sure the wg rod doesn't bind. You have some adjustability.

Been driving her around to break in, no boost and this turbo is so dam responsive.
I can already see why people praise these EFR's.
