Not the best pic but you get the idea.
Manifold heat shield done. It's in two pieces and covers about 90% of the manifold.
I left about a 1/2" air gap between the heat shield and manifold.

The title didn't really fit anymore, after 4 years it wasn't new to me.
Also i've completely change my REW setup(turbo, manifold, downpipe, 5spd trans, clutch, ECU, piping, wiring, ect...) so I figured it's time for a title update

How it currently sits, been to busy to work on her.

Talking At it again

I wasn't happy with the appearance of the UIM and components so I decided to sand & repolish.

Since it was polished already I hand sanded with 1000 grit then buffed with white compound.
Took about three hours to do all the pieces.
thanks

One more pic(not the best)of the heat shielding that I did.
Hoping that it'll keep the temps under control since going to a top mount.

And I polished/cleaned up the coolant pressure and overflow tanks.

Again, beautiful work. My RHD steering column forces me to mount my turbo (EFR 7670 IWG) in the same top mount location as yours so I'm going through the same processes as you on heat shielding, albeit I'm a month or so off building it. I got some military aircraft heat shielding/fire protection fairly cheaply so will be using that. That said, I may have to use a ceramic coating instead/too to cope with the small clearances at the turbine exit; did you consider ceramic coating?

BTW where are you looking to connect the turbo water cooling hoses?

Cool man, I'm so glad I don't have rhd vehicle... it would really suck, space is already so limited.
I'd do the ceramic coat and heat shielding... best of both worlds.
Make sure you have a air gap between the sheilding and manifold.

Coolant lines are attached to the FD water pump in the stock locations.
I removed the stock fittings and tapped in some 6an fittings.
