Final Price I paid (includes tax, …): $24,600 (MSRP = $29,590)
Model Year: 2005 (Build Date of 10/2005)
Model: MT
Options: Sport Pkg, CD Changer, Rear Wing Spoiler
Date of Purchase: 3/2006
Location: Aberdeen, Maryland (~ 30 minutes North of Baltimore)
New with 12 miles on it when I took delivery

Other: After looking at the available inventory on the Mazda website, I contacted roughly 15 different Internet Sales Managers within a 12 hour drive of my house that had the color and options I wanted. I actually went to two of the dealerships that were not to far from my house and negotiated in person. They didn’t come down in price enough and their cars were new but had “old” (~ Fall of 2004 build dates). I negotiated hard via e-mails and narrowed my choices down to one with and one without NAV. The dealer who had the one with NAV wouldn’t drop his price enough so I got the one without NAV listed above. I drove a one way rental car 10 hours to pick it up but think it was worth it because they had the lowest price, the car had only 12 miles on it (I was afraid of rough test drives on ones with more miles), and it had a recent build date (10/2005) where many of the improvements that corrected the small problems were done at the manufacturer. Mine doesn’t have as many options as some of the RX-8’s but based on my experience, I find it hard to believe that anyone got $8000 off MSRP. Most of the dealerships that I contacted within a 12 hour drive from South Carolina didn’t believe that I was getting the price listed above from another dealership or told me they couldn’t go that low. I've had it for about 1 month now and love it. I had a 2002 BMW 330i before the RX-8.

Not $8000 my friend....$9250. There was an extra $1250 auto show cash back for several weeks in February.

Before I bought my '05 GT, I had looked at a sport package that stickered around $28,7xx and the second offer on the table from them was invoice less holdback less $3750 cash (if financed through Mazda). I didn't take it, but instead drove a bit further and got a GT for a couple hundred more.

Next time you're looking for a car, be sure to check the midwest dealers; especially if you're in the market for a sportscar in the winter months.

Price

I got an '05 with 4499 miles on it for $21,000 before tax from a dealership 2 days ago. The KBB price was 24,500 so I figure I got a good deal.

I did not believe the 7000-8000 off msrp until i was able to find one at that price. it took me a while basically find a dealer with the car you want and get the absolute lowest price from them and then tell the other dealers they are offering at this price and see if they are willing to beat it.. sure you are putting them in a bad spot and to compete against each other but its in the consumers best interest to find the best deal at the bet price.

i was going to get an 06 auto first since 05s would not be much less but then saw the forum and how people were getting so much off. so i started to get quotes from internet sales reps online and then found the one i wanted that was already lower price than the price my local dealer offer as their bottom line price.. and then i asked for even more off and i am not getting it at 7300 off msrp..

well i mean think about it.. ther eis 4000 dollars off right now on all cars from mazda and also MAC. most dealer on cars around this price range will make 2500-3000 from the MSRP price. so basically with that mind you should easily be able to get 6000 - 6500 off. anymore then off then you are going below invoice which means they pretty much make no money.. that they are just trying to get rid of it.

Talking Great Deal

I Saw Four To Five Rx-8, Four Of Them Were Basic Asking For $26,000 To $28,000 No Sun Roof,no Leather Sit, No Bose, Nav Sistem, I Was About To Give Up, But On The Last One, $23,000 With Sun Roof, Leather, Nav Sistem, Bose And Traction Cotrol. They Try Too Sale It Too Me For $27,000, But They Advertise It Online For $23,000, Gave Me An Excuse That It Was A Misprint And That It Is For The Base Car (this Hapen At Infinity Of Tacoma) But The Vin Number Mach The Vin On The Add, So The Mach The Price Of $23,000. Good Price Up Here In Washington State. I Think

2005 Shinka/Black Cherry
New/Used: New
Odometer: 12
MSRP: $33,564
Base Price: $28,546 (before $1,500 Mazda rebate)
Final Price: $28,768 for absolutely everything (includes early payoff of loan)
Savings off MSRP = $4796
Model: MT
Options: Spare Tire Kit, Rotary Accent Package
Date of purchase: 2/18/06 (build date 2/28/05)
Location: Union, NJ
Financed/Cash purchase: Traded in '04 Mazdaspeed MX5 (13,900 miles) for $16K. Then MAC financed balance ($12,637) to get additional $1,000 off. Paid off loan today after one payment.

How you did it: Planned on waiting for a Winning Blue '06 with GT pack + nav. After reading of "up to $8000 off MSRP on leftover '05's" here decided to check local inventories. Unexpectedly found three '05 MT Shinkas nearby. Had always liked them and assumed they were long gone. Got quote thru internet sales manager. Bought the only one without a rear wing.

Comments: At first I thought I could've done better on price (not even close to $8K off sticker), then decided price was probably good for a Shinka.

Cool I stole it

Bought 2005 MT Black on April 11, 2006

Sticker Price $30,410
Price paid $21,910
Out the Door $23,410

Financed through My Bank

I was going to wait for an 06 as I am able to purchase at supplier pricing but this deal was too good to pass on. Supplier price on 06 was $27k

I went to 3 dealers in the past month looking at 05s and decided to wait because the deal just wasn't attractive enough.

Mazda Direct finally called me and offered the car at the right price.

If you are looking for a new car call Johnny Walker at Mazda Direct in Columbus.

That's basically the deail I'm trying to get on a 05 sport with appearance package and maybe homelink mirror. Did your dealership advertise 8500 off or did you have to call around to a ton of them before you found a car at 21.9 MSRP+tax title license?

I've never heard of 8500 off so that must mean that your dealer sold it at a loss and gave you an additional discount on top of the 6500 standard rebates?

What package and options did you get.

You'll just be able to get the 1K rebate under invoice.

Bunnygirl got her 06 for 33K. No deals for the 06's. I bought an 04 same config (Red GT+Nav+some other options) abt 3 weeks ago for 23 K! Car even smells like new.

Hey Guys!

Thanks to this forum where I got some info about buying RX8. I bought a an RX8 last week.

Here are the specs:
2005 Mazda RX8 Manual Transmission
GT package with Red-Black interiors (I was very particular abt this)
Rotary Accent Package
Rear Spoiler
6-CD changer (which is basically bull crap)
Spare Tire Kit (Again, useless junk)

Since this was a factory-ready car, I didnt have the option of taking out the last 2 'features'. Also, I wanted a Black exterior, however this was a metallic grey.

I surveyed/negotiated on the phone with almost all major mazda dealers in northern California (which hardly took one complete day... and second day of 2nd round negotiations). After reading from this forum, I knew I have to get an '05 model for 7K-8K less than msrp. So, without too much of bargaining I just jumped a figure of 28,500 out of the door for this car to one of the dealers. and, (to my dismay :D) he agreed and I bought the car without thinking too much. Even though I got a pretty decent deal (The MSRP was 33+K... so, I did get around 7-8K off). But REMEMBER 05 buyers: This is a car that is not selling very hot (GOD knows the reason why!). And, since 07 model is almost due, you guys should not buy this unless you get MINIMUM of 8K...

Now, with the car, I am completely satisfied... In fact, this gives me more pleasure than a 3 series Bimmer (which I used to drive occassionally). All in all - Its a fantastic car with a low profile, which means, anyone who wants to buy can get a good deal... Before settling on this, I was also considering another deal basic 06 Black MT GT model with Black and Red interiors for $29.5K out of the door... (I dont believe in MSRPs, Invoice price etc., as the dealer can always add some stupid charge later on...)

For starters, Edmunds estimates that people in my city pay this much for a base 6-speed '05 after destination & tax:

True Market Value w/ dest. & tax: $27,387
MSRP w/ dest. & tax: $29,081
Invoice w/ dest. & tax: $26,928

I couldn't find another thread quite like this, so here's some ground rules:

1. Please post your final price, after tax, destination, title, and anything else you threw in there. Although this can seem like a difficult task to do in light of all the different prices you're quoted (MSRP, invoice, pre-tax price, etc..), there's ultimately only one figure that you're paying off or that you paid in cash, so just go with that one.

2. Here's a template:
