I'm sure that is what google or other sources show.
U can't believe the internet posted prices by mazda or anyone else.
Don't you think they know you are looking at those prices and invoice listings?
Of course they do. They are not going to make buying a vehicle easy for you. they
are out to make as much money as possible. (true invoice prices are not even shown to the
salespeople or sales managers)(insider fact)

The normal holdbacks are 3%-5% for other cars and options marked up at > 100%
So why is Mazda saying 2%, I for one don't know!
We paided (0) zero destination on our RX-8 (not even a a listed item on the sales slip)
yet it is listed everywhere including the internet, books and even on the dealer invoices
So why is everyone else paying $520?

I doubt a RX-8 spare tire (rim only) is truely invoiced at $320, I see hundreds on the internet that are well below that price, they start at $120
Bottom line is research like mad, then offer bare bottom and see where the grind their teeth.

This is great information Sandie, my problem is always convincing them of this. How are you convincing these salespeople to go with no destination charge? Everyone I go to is insisting that that is charged by the manufacturer and there is no way they can take it off the price. Just as hard to negotiate is the Advertising/admin fees.
So what is the trick?
Hope you will share

No trick just do your price research as per the previous thread and

Remember that the transportation/deliver charge (in the case $520) is just a number. Just another thing that the dealer will try to use to up the total price paid. Treat it as just that.
The dealer compute their total profit, not xxx above invoice, xx saved on delivery, xxx made on options, etc. (ie the delear does not care if he skips the $520 for delivery if he can get you to pay full option price for some option that is marked up 100%)

Offer dealers one price to cover your deal (like their invoice + 200)
As long as you have left them enough profit they will accept your bottom line!!

Another thing that the dealer will try to use to up the total price paid. It does not cost all dealers the same to transport a vehicle. It varies depending on their location.

It is a 4 yr lease w 12k mi per year. I went with the GT. Supposed to pick it up Tues. The price is out the door. I was very specific but I we'll see what the paperwork says. The final terms we agreed on include $1100 cash and a $250 revit coupon. Good luck..

Talking YEAH! Just got my new 8!!!

Paid 28,910 (before taxes & fees) for my winning blue 6-speed with GT that I picked up thursday!! A little over invoice but I got a great deal on my trade-in value so it made the deal. The build date was in june of 2004, it only had 21 miles when I picked it up. Also, on my first tank of gas I've already driven 280 miles!? I've been keeping the revs under 5000 RPM.

Check out my Garage link in this post for purchase price details. I purchased on December 30, 2003

This was the week after Christmas, end of month, quarter, and year, buying a "sports car" in the winter, with a dozen snow covered 8's on the lot.

They seemed to be very motivated sellers. :D

Cheers,
Oranje

Paid $31,200 (includes tax, tags and fees) for my Brilliant Black 6-speed with GT, Spoiler, 6 Disc CD changer, Appearance Package, Rotary Accent Package and Spare Tire Kit. The price without all the fees was approximately $29,995 which according to Consumer Reports is the dealer wholesale price.

Yep.

According to my calculations, you paid a whopping $4.00 over invoice!

Good job.

I paid $650 below invoice for my 2004 GT 6sp on Sept. 4, 2004. I highly recommend internet sales at Freeman Mazda, Irving, TX.

Sam's Club

I purchased my eight on Aug. 14 and paid $150 above invoice by simply going through Sam's Club Auto Purchasing Program. If you are a Sam's Club member, just go to their website to use the program for free. You can at least try this first.

It was a hassle free buying process and I plan to use it in the future. After my purchase was complete, the sales manager from my Mazda dealer told that he would appreciate my referrals and would pay me to be a bird-dog as part of their referral program. But he also said not to mention the Sam's Club deal to them...he laughed, shook his head and walked away.

Can I do better?

Am I missing something? Just test drove today. These are the offers so far. Velocity red GT package, $27,400
Nordic Green, no package, 6 cd, spoiler, spare tire $25, 160
Still think they can do better. Am I being to demanding? 1 dealer had a ton of them and I know they need to move them.

I bought mine for $20 over invoice because of a family member that worked for the dealership. Mine costed me $26,180, and it's black with a 6-speed manual and also came with the GT package. It came up to about $30,000 when all the taxes were included. FYI: you have to special order tires for this car, and there's only two types that are available for it. one set you pay about $1100 for, the other will cost you about $1300. I don't know about you, but i was shocked when i found that out! My RX-8 has about 16,000 miles on it, and i'm already almost needing new tires - just expect to pay about $1100 - $1300 every 20,000 miles for new tires as well!

I'll post here when I sign the papers, but for an idea of some of the offers I've gotten (well below invoice), see this:

May want to recheck your calculations......

MSRP for 6 speed Rx8 with GT, Appearance, Rotary Accent, CD Changer, Rear Wing Spoiler and Spare Tire Kit is $33,559. Invoice for the same is $30,511. Consumer Reports Wholesale price is $29,977.

According to my calculations, I paid a whopping $516.00 under invoice!!

I just paid $29,172 for a 2004 Nortic Green 6MT, GT package with spoiler, and spare tire kit. That price did not include tax or tag and title fees. Did I overpay? ( Not that It matters now ) I love the car more every day, just had it for 300 miles,
Thanks,
Easy8

I don't know but if you are happy then its all relevant. Still working four dealerships. Expect to make a deal this week. Best so far, off the showroom floor, velocity red gt package 27, 400 with a sticker of 32. The other was a nordic green for 25,160 obviously not as loaded with sticker of 29. Not done because I know they have to move these cars. Looking to finance about 19,000 when I am through with my trade in I am going to present to them after I get their best price for the car. If I can pull off 19,000 financed for this car I feel my work was done very well...

I did re-check my calculations, and they were correct.

Invoice for 6 MT = $24, 659
" " GT Package = $ 3,441
" " Appearance = $ 775
" " Rotary Accent = $ 111
" " 5 Disc CD = $ 400
" " Rear Spoiler = $ 285
" " Spare Tire kit = $ 320

The invoice prices quoted above are from Edmunds.

The total is $29, 991.00, which is $14.00 more than what you quote from Consumer Reports. But even using your calculation from Consumer Reports, how do calculate that you paid $516.00 under invoice, when you say that you paid $29, 995 on the previous page?

Of course the destination charge is not included above, so that probably makes up the difference right there.

Bought my Titanium MT with Grand Touring, Spare Tire, Spoiler and Accent package at almost $1K under invoice.

There is a factory to dealer incentive for $750 per car if the dealership sells at least so many cars a month so at the end of the month you need to find a desperate dealer that needs to sell one or two more cars. I simply faxed a bunch of dealers and two seem to be quite desparate to sell.

^ Ive thought of doing the same thing. The problem is that you really have to be very open to the options you are willing to accept going this route.

There are only two cars in my area that are anywhere close to having all the options I want (or don't want).

Thats right....you did not include the destination charge. Which we all know that every new car you purchase is going to have a distination charge. Which is supposedly a fee charged for transporting the vehicle and is passed on to the buyer without any markup.
