Official service loaner policy?
I’m dealing with the closets dealer even though I didn’t purchase from them. They have been pretty cool with all my questions and other issues. So today when I made my appointment for recall work, they offered me a loaner while I was receiving service. I must admit I was surprised.
So is there an official loaner policy with the “8”? Am I getting a loaner because it’s recall work? Do they always provide a loaner for any non-oil change service? Is it per dealer?
TIA

I think its the Mazda Transportation Solution:

Repairs under warranty will no longer keep you off the road. Take your car in for warranty work at a participating Mazda dealership, and you can get a loaner car at no charge. Just ask.

I didn't buy my 8 at my dealer either. They said in advance that they will not lend me a car (if bought elsewhere) if mine have to go in for maintainence. Does this count for re-calls I wonder? All the sales guys and the manager at the dealer gives me dirty looks now for not buying a car at their dealer, but the person in charge of the garage and the mechanics take good care of me.
What do you guys think they will do?

No Gods For Me
That policy only applies to 2001-2003 model year cars. My dealer does not have loaner cars. Luckily there is fairly convenient mass transit near the dealer and near my work.

Yes, I saw the year and wondered if they just hadn't updated the web page. My dealer made a point about the loaner car when I was buying my 2004 RX-8. When I had potential warranty work he again stressed getting a loaner lined up.
The correct answer on the warranty is probably to be found in the warranty packet that came with car, probably in the zippered pouch that holds the owners manual.

OK, try this:
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/pdf/...8_brochure.pdf
This looks like the RX-8 Brochure they freely handout.
Page 8, right half of the double page, right below the 1/2 way point on the rotary:
-----
And should your Mazda require a warranty repair, the Mazda Service Transportation Solution can typically make sure you have another vehicle to drive.
-----
This sounds in similar to what my dealer said, but is different from what kwolfman's dealer.

BTW, if you read the terms of the Mazda Service Transportation Solution, a loaner is only provided if the warranty repair will take more than one day to complete.
Or in other words, you only get a loaner if they need to keep your car overnight.
Now various dealers will provide you with a loaner regardless, but Mazda only "has" to if your car will be down for more than one day.

Loaner car is a "standard feature" of the 8. The dealer that I bought from puts into their sales contract that they don't provide loaner cars. I walked over to the 8 sitting right in the showroom and pointed out the third item on the window sticker "LOANER CAR PROGRAM". I asked if there were any other standard features that Mazda has included in the price of the car that they were planning on "removing" from the car.
Haven't needed it yet, but I photocopied the window sticker and keep it in the car just in case.
MNAO might want to know about the dealers that aren't providing loaner cars.

For the 8, their flagship model, I think Mazda should provide a loaner for routine maintenance and any service appointment, not just for repairs under warranty. This service would then extend beyond the warranty period.
