That price is crazy. One of our local members just bought a clean 07' GT 6 speed with 30k on it for $14,000.00. Another, Cornholio135 paid like 13k last year for his 06' Shinka with 30k and a new engine in it and his Shinka is absolutely showroom perfect inside and out.
2009 GT with 22k miles in NJ for $18k
2009 GT with 8k miles in San Antonio for $19k
2009 GT with 16k miles in Portland, OR for $25k
2009 GT (automatic!) with 29k miles in Portland, OR for $23k
2008 GT (sport!) with 45k miles in Seattle for $19k
2009 GT with 15k miles in Atlanta for $25k
See what I mean?

Yes, location is very important, I agree. my car was purchased in northern New Jersey, about 1 hour away from New York City.
This is when tools like kbb.com, nada.com, edmunds.com, etc. all come into play to make sure you are getting a good deal for your geographical location. prices people are asking on craigslist is not a good tool to use for measuring the cars value, I could very easily create a post asking for $23k for my car as well, that doesn't mean that's what it would sell for.

Dude did you get a compression test before you bought the car ? I sure hope you don't just get carried away without thinking here. With that mileage on a used rotary it doesn't matter how clean it looks and what extras he gave you. What matters first is the condition of that engine. Get that compression test done ASAP . Hope it checks out ok, but if it doesn't ,most states allow you to return a defective car within a few days of sale.

You may pay for your rush to buy, I hope not. And i am sorry to say you paid way too much for this car with the mileage. You came to this forum for good advice, but you just bought it anyway. Why bother asking ?

Sure, I only picked one example (the first 2009 GT I saw) from each location... Obviously, it's not a full sample set that one would need to draw a solid conclusion.
But I do know that I looked (off and on) for more than a year for my RX-8, and there's no way I would find one in the Pacific NW for prices that compete with NJ and TX.

Yes i got the compression test done before signing, I test drove around 10 in the past month dealt with about 15 cars salesman which was fun. I know all internal parts on these matter more than any thing on the outside. I wouldn't put this kind of money into something i didn't feel would last.

Well if you did all your homework and testing of the car, then best of luck to you . Expect the normal replacements going forward with any RX8 with that mileage.

It was a bit pricey even for here in San Diego. But i figure i got a 12k car with about 3k in used extras so it about evens out for what you find out here

Hey we all wish you well here as another RX8 owner, but you will have to live with the fact that even for California you paid WAY TOO MUCH for that year and mileage. Oh Well, it is YOUR money.
Good luck to you and be prepared to start replacing all the things that will start to go with that mileage.
