Considering a used RX8, advice needed

Hello all, I need some help. Last month I purchased an 04 Accord Coupe EX V6 with the 6 speed. Last thursday some guy took a left turn without paying attention, nailed my car which then went into a pole. My car is completely totaled and once again, I have to go back into the world of car shopping. I'm getting full payment back for my car though which is good.

Now, I live in CT and the parents would prefer me to purchase a car that is either FWD or AWD because of the winter time, but the way I see it, I get a damn good set of studded snow tires and I'll be fine. I've been in love with the RX8 ever since it came out here in the states and I'm seriously considering one. What I want to know is how livable is the car? I'm in New England and we generally have medium winters with some rare snow storms. I don't care if I have to pay the price for premium gas or do constant oil changes for the car (I hear the rotary loves to drink the oil), I'll deal. I've found a few RX8s within my price range from 04/05 and I want to really know I can consider one without really facing any problems for the 3-4 years or so that I'd have the car. Also, what kind of warranties can I get with a used RX8? If I end up with one, it's going to be from a Mazda dealer.

I am in a similar boat as you, in that my current car is about to be sold off and I am looking at the RX-8 yet again (thinking time #3 for me, loooove dem roataries)

I have the same concerns for winter driving as you being that I live in Alaska. Coming off an AWD sport sedan going RWD has me a bit worried/curious

first... search.
second... winter tires, like Dunlop WinterSports
third... it's my daily driver in NY and I love it.
There're also a few guys from Alaska on this forum, read their posts.

it's my daily driver in Milford, CT. search around as already suggested so you know what the pros and cons are and see where you land with that. by the way i have blizzaks on mine and even with this winter haven't had any issues.

Take it for a test drive. There will be no more consideration.

Sorry that happened to your car but once you test drive the RX8 you may see a silver lining!
Good luck!
