Carmax
I was just wondering if anybody has any experiances, good or bad with any given Carmax dealer. I am looking at getting my 8 from them due to the fact that none of the dealers in el paso hardly ever have any used 8's in stock. Carmax will ship a car from any of their nationwide dealerships to any of their locations, for a fee of course. given my situation of needing to buy a car as soon as i redeploy this is a good option for me so there is a used one waiting when i get home. my other concern is price, i personally think they are not so bad, but opinions would be apriciated. http://www.carmax.com is the webpage, and i am going to their new mexico location. the only real things i am picky about is i want an 05 manual. i have noticed as i monitor their stock, the overall prices have actually been going up not down. good news for current owners i would say but not so much for those of us looking to buy.

Do some research, compare prices with other dealers and individuals in your area.
I personally have found that CarMax is usually among the most expensive places in town. Typically with little to none negotiation skills you can get a better deal at nearly any dealership.
Coincidentally, CarMax does give VERY high wholesale values when they purchase from you.

my experience (selling to carmax) was great, b/c they pay top dollar. gave me over kbb value on my '99 civic. i've heard their niche is poor credit consumers, so they are willing to pay you top dollar on the car, and sell it at or around that same price, but make the money up with interest rates. if you have good credit, like revvittupp says, you can probably strike a better deal with a dealer. if you're selling a car, always try carmax first to get the most money.
similar situation with my mom's lexus is - carmax gave her 2000 over what her buyout was, so she paid off her lease and sold it to carmax and made 2 grand. anyway, i'd be wary to BUY from them if you have good credit. i imagine a dealership would also be able to hunt one down for you and make a dealer trade if you committed to getting it.
