Carmax

Hey everyone. So I'm looking to sell my AT 8 to get a MT. But I'm getting impatient and theres a local 8 I really want. I've already missed an amazing deal so i'm not ready to miss another. I have a 04 SS with 56k miles and ALL the options. red/black leather interior, navi screen, bose system, all that jazz. Anyway, it's also heavily modded, Mazdaspeed Authentic front, ms replica sides, greddy sp2, catless midpipe, mazdaspeed springs, and tons of more stuff.

So, I owe a little under 13k on the car. The blue book value is 11,600 in good condition and 12,800 in excellent. It consider my car to be in great condition, haha. So I was wondering if anyone has sold their car to Carmax and how much they give you. I'd hope to get anywhere from 11k to 12k and I can just make up for the difference with parting out my car and taking them a stock RX8 with all the options. The problem is I don't want to bring my car back to stock, take it in there and get a bullshit offer and be stuck with my stock car. And I doubt they'd help me over the phone.

So does anyone have any expierence with them? What would you do?
Thanks

why dont you just be happy with thr AT. It's not that bad. specially since you owe more that it's worth.

unless it's a personal sale you are going to get **** offers.

I do like my AT a lot. I just want to start driving MT. And when you see another 8, in your favorite 8 color, all the options you have, 2005 and less miles. It's hard to not want it, haha.

gotcha. The only problem is I can't take my car to Carmax looking the way it does. No way am I giving them all my aftermarket stuff. Do you think they'd ballpark a price for me over the phone?

Okay. Yeah most dealers don't like mods. And i'd rather sell them to fellow members. Thanks man

It's up here man. And on craigslist, it's just selling a car is no easy task. And I have my stock springs, I'd have to do stock + cash if I parted out, but whatever, haha. what do you what maps?

This is more true than false.

I'd guess 7,800.

My Carmax experience was the opposite. I was originally going to trade in the 6 an the 8 for a sharp Acura TL, but couldn't because Carmax couldn't resolve the RX8 lease for some reason.

Anyway, Carmax was going to offer me 16k for the 8 and 9k for the 6. I couldn't get 9k for the Mazda6 from the damn dealership (so I sold it privately), and when I did trade in the Rx8 for the Speed I got less than 15 for it.

So don't be afraid to ask. You never know what offer you might get, and you're not obligated anyway.
