Buying in Chicago area
I'm in the process (finally) of dealing for an '04 6sp GT, and wonder what you all think of my ideas. I have been offered $26,000 plus TTL in Madison, WI. I'm trying to get down closer to $25,500 (about 1500 below invoice, plus the rebate). Do you think I will be able to? One salesman said "I quoted you invoice, minus the dealer holdback ($27,000). The rebates to dealers that were available a few months ago have expired, so you won't be able to get much below that from anybody." I told him about the $26,000, and he said "I'll see, and email you back."
With the fire, and the end of the year and all, is this going to fly? I REALLY hate dealing like this, but I know it's required. What do you all think/suggest? Thanks a lot.

I'm not a student, and I don't qualify for the S-plan. I talked with several dealers via email. I think Schaumberg, Naperville, Biggers and Crystal Lake. They showed up on my Edmunds price quote thingy. I also talked with (via email) Madison, Janesville, and Hall Mazda in Milwaukee.
