If you *really* need to see the bill of sale, I can probably scan it and PM you an image of it after this weekend, but I don't really see the point in going through the efforts of scanning it. It's not $10k off retail though, given that it's an '07. You'd be hard pressed to find an '07 base model (Sport) RX-8 selling for as much as $27.5k, and you'd laugh at any dealer trying to get that much for it.

No trade-in, no down payment. 72mo at 6.9%, which isn't the greatest rate by any means. No prepay penalty so I'll just pay the balance off in November.

Congrats, dter, great price and thanks for the contact info of the sales person. I wasn't interested in the silver one but it is proving to be helpful leverage in other negotiations. BTW, it looks like someone else bought the silver one--hope you got the finders fee.

Question: If you used Mazda financing, was that part of the reason you got such a good deal? Or did you negotiate the price separate from the financing? Were there any financing fees or was Mazda simply interested in your interest payments? What would the final price had been you had not financed through Mazda?

 

I think he means 07 used with less than 25k miles on them because there is no way in hell you can get a brand new rx8 for less than 21k

 

NVM i just saw the post with the link... i can't believe that.. you must be in an area with low sales, and they must've had it on the lot for a very very long time..

Yeah, someone else took the silver while RotoRocket was looking at it. Don't think it was a RX8Club person though. The price was negotiated before the financing; they quoted me 17.5k even before I decided to finance it. Maybe they never expected me to be able to get approved for it or what, but the dealer didn't seem all that interested in making the sale; apparently 3 people before me tried to finance it and couldn't get a loan (I was told this after I already had the car, so there was no incentive for lying).

The financing is through Chase bank with Ford on the papers. I don't know if Mazda finances through Ford, but they're owned by Ford, right? No financing fees as far as I'm aware, but I probably paid a couple of extra hundies in fees that I shouldn't have, plus I got the window etching. With TTL + window etching the whole thing was under 20k though; with 7% tax alone it's 18750 so I wasn't raped on the fees.

 

Yep, I was going to pay cash, on the spot for it, but the financing requirement was an issue for me because I don't need it and don't want to pay juice - I did not realize you can pre-pay it after a few months, though, so my bad.

The guy I talked to at the dealer was pretty cool.

I'm not sure how much they sold the silver for, and it did have a spoiler, which I didn't really want, but had that other person not bought it, I would have. They literally beat me to the punch by maybe 6 hours or so?

I would have gotten the 2nd best deal ever on a new 8 (after dter).

And one more thing, props to Dimitri for bringing this to OUR attention, rather than not saying anything at all. I told him that had I bought it, I was going to give him a hundie, when in reality, I was going to see if he'd let me take him out for a few beers, and I was going to insist on giving him 2 hundred.

 

So the financing requirement was part of the deal?

Oh, and robrecht: if RotoRocket says it was required, I guess that was probably the case. To be honest, I didn't ask because I was definite that I was going to finance it, and I desperately needed a new car. My only concern was that there was no prepayment penalty on the financing and that the APR wasn't too high. 6.9% was OK with me because my credit isn't all that great, and I knew that I'd be able to pay off the balance after I started law school.

To be honest that APR isn't that bad for your situation heres why.

No Trade In, No Down Payment and Not so good credit. I figured your APR would be around the 8% Mark or even more, Last time I bought a new car I was in the same situation and I ended up paying around 9.5% Apr then around 6 months later I got it refinanced and got it down to 5.9%
