Z Meets Wall: We Investigate Why the NISMO Z's Brakes Failed at Lightning Lap - Feature - Car and Driver
Understand, this is not brand bashing (maybe Honda owner bashing, but not the brand). I just want to point out that in this group you have a relatively honest and honorable, very large, set of folks who will share issues with the hopes of a solutions as well as to keep others from experiencing the same issues. The fact that a few are excitable, may skew your opinion as well. I would buy another one in a minute if something happened to mine. Likely an 04. They are faster and prettier..
BTW, the solution for the oil consumption in the Z is to not decelerate the car in gear.

Thanks for the information guys, I'm glad you can clear up some things.
If i buy from a mom n pop kinda dealer i probably wont get a nice warranty right?
Which year should i be looking for?
I drive about 70 miles a day to an from work then i drive about 400 miles during the weekend.

That is a ton of driving. If you drive to work 5 days a week and the 70 miles was round trip that is 350 miles a work week + 400 miles on the weekend for a total of 750. Now if you average your mpg out 15 + 22 / 2 = 18.5 and then 750 / 18.5 = 40.54 and then times that by 3.66(gallon of premium fuel where I live) you get almost $150 per week in fuel. That is only if you do nothing but go home on work days.
It would probably be in your best interest to buy some cheap car that you can use for commuting and maybe have this as your fun car. I cant imagine spending ~$600 a month on fuel that is crazy even if you can afford it.

Driving like that is what got me away from Rx7's. I had a 86 (MINT) FC se and a 94 (Decent, needed paint) Eco model Eclipse (1.8l 94hp). Loved the FC it was my baby, but driving her 120 miles a day 5 days a week and about another 200 on the weekends literally ran me broke. The eclipse, slow, very slow, but great at mpgs (38mpgs ******* it ), got me through my ruff times, and now that I don't drive as much I got a RX again.

Well I already have a fun weekend project car, then I also have my commuter which gets about 400 miles a tank on a bad day.
But I think I'm off my RX8 high, only because I took a look at the 09+ models and my God they are so beautiful in and out!
Those are kinda outta my current budget tho so I'm goin with an S2000.
Hopefully I can get the 8 I want in the future.

I have an 05 and it is a money pit. If I had to do it over I deff would have gotten a more recent model, but I was new to the whole car-buying game. Probably just got unlucky. The only good thing is though, I have tried a second dealer (because the 1st raped me till I couldnt take it anymore), and they are very very nice to me. They are covering the towing costs to replace the clutch assembly that recently broke. Even still though, I've had all the classics go wrong.
