Looks like mine will get delivered tomorrow!

I was reading the MS exhaust thread over at Rosenthal Mazda and it appears that someone already got theirs installed. He said it sounds great! Now it's a race to get a soundclip posted! I'm gonna try my hardest to get it installed after work tomorrow night. Unfortunately, there's not much daylight left by the time I get home, so this actually might not happen until the weekend. Can't wait to hear how it sounds for myself!

I just got mine and am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!

I have one question. In the instructions it says for prep for the muffler to take out the plastic exhaust finishers and cut them an inch from the inside edge. My understanding is the exhaust finishers are the shiny things that are an accessory option, am I right or do I have to cut the inside of the stock back bumper? I want to do this myself tomorrow night. I'm about to go look over the back bumper and see if I can see what it's talking about.

Thanks!!!!

They are probably talking about the Black plastic surrounds on the bumper cover, the exhaust outlets. The reason for that is probably to stop the exhaust from melting them, that was one of the issues that slowed the release of this product in the first place. If you have the metal finishers already installed you may not have this heat concern, due to the reflective nature of the finisher.

That is about all them help that I can give you from my end.

Congrats! I'm disappointed that I can't be home when mine arrives tomorrow. Oh well...

As for the exhaust finishers: I thought they were aluminum or some kind other kind of metal? But anyway, I would hope that Mazda would not require us to cut the stock plastic bumper.

Keep us informed!

Edit: Bagman, you got your response in just before I did. If we don't have to cut too much of the trim, it'll be okay.

I am fairly sure that BAGMAN is right. You have to cut the plastic on the bumper. My assumption is heat like he said.

Well I know that with my conversations with Mazda that Exhaust tip temp. was a major concern. With the lower restriction mufflers it was allowing the tips to get @400 deg.

I know it is a major bummer that some trimming is required. But if done properly and with care I am sure that it wont even be noticable. The best way to do it is probably with a hack saw instead of a cutting wheel, less chance of melting the plastic surround.

I am glad I was able to be of assistance. I look forward to continued business with you and I hope everybody else too.

Mazda did do a good job on the design, the end product looked great in the box I cant wait for the first pictures and sound clips.

Our next adventure together should be the CAI. I should have some solid pricing and availability in the next week or so.

The coil over kits have been pushed back to late March to early April, supplier issues.

Thanks for everybodys support,

Damn...I was afraid of that. I guess we'll give it a go tomorrow either way. Don't want the dealership charging me an arm, leg, and more. Keep me posted guys.

Question. Anyone know the easiest way to get off the little clips that are holding on the finishers? They are nail-like in shape and are held on by it looks like 4-5 small plastic clips. Any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

Bagman, I will be doing business with you again. Especially when you get the new MS CAI.

This may be to late.........
To remove those clips take a small pick or screwdriver pop the center of the clip out and then the base. Do not pry on the base or you run the risk of danaging the clip and or the finisher.
If you do damage the clips the part# for those is as follows
GD7A50EA1 MSRP-1.50ea Website-1.20ea.

Okay, so the part inside the bumper cover should pop off as well as the nail-like part on the bottom, right? I'm not trying this until later this evening. Appreciate the help Bagman!

The tricky bit is releasing the 'fingers'on the exhaust finisher. You have to be careful or you will break off some of the fingers. They can be released using a very small screw driver or pick.

Ok guys, I made a sound clip. However, I have not a single clue how to host it. Is there anyone here I can send it to. I would just like to preface this clip by saying that I am an amature and a half at this, have never made a soundclip before so please, feel free to laugh at my crappy skills. Just dont insult me. I am fully aware the clip is not amazing lol. Also, the sound quality probably isnt the best because it was recorded on a digital camera with minimal video taking capabilities. Either way, this will have to do until someone posts a better clip. Hope you enjoy, or at least get a good laugh.

As for the exhaust, I couldnt be happier with the quality. The sound is pure sex. Not loud or annoying, its deep and aggressive, but doesnt detract from the rotary sound. Really comes alive at the higher rpm's and even pops a little around 6500 rpm. Worth every penny.

Ugh, it's telling me 'Service Unavailable' for some reason. Did you use up your alloted bandwidth?
