I think thats all my mounts, brackets made now.. just got to strip it all down and finish welding all parts not accessable with engine etc in place.. then quick clean and paint..
then it will be plumbing up water pipes, air, fuel etc, wiring..

Congratulations.........you are really making progress...........what a hell of a job, manufacturing etc. of all the upper mentioned parts..........I have a great respect for you........imo you are one of the guys that will always have a job and a good living from it.........:yesnod:

Made up a steering joint to connect the rx8 column to steering rack..
gave crossmember, prop, diff, prop mount etc a lick of paint..
made up a throttle pedal..
just got a slave cylinder spacer to make and start bolting it all back together..
then hopefully just a case of plumbing water pipes, air, fuel etc and some wiring..
then hopefully test it out..
Oh and an exhaust or it might be a bit noisey.

Just waiting on parts, spacers, nuts, bolts etc coming now before i can start putting it all back together,
put spigot bush in, made alloy bracket for p/steering delete, turned inlet top hat 180*

Knocked up a 20mm spacer for clutch and fitted to box..
fitted clutch and put box back onto engine..
made power steering delete bracket and pulley.. need to find right size belt to determine correct fitment..
Hopefully get engine etc back into car this weekend.

Again, just waiting on auxilary belt, pipes, hoses to plumb it all up..
Got engine, box all bolted back in the car.. propshaft bolted up, diff mount etc.. sorted gear selector seems to work ok nice short shifts..
intercooler, oil cooler bolted up, just waiting on fraser welding extra water pipe on the rad before i put that back in.. get oil cooler pipes made, bleed clutch, connect fuel lines, make down pipe, probs move screenwash bottle and fit expansion bottle there.. then wire it up hopefully should be ready to try next couple weeks..

maybe if they would stop that shit there would be more fresh ideas and a increase of the knowledge base here...

Kudos to you T4, and you guys are correct, it's a shame that someone has an original idea and gets sh*t on, the rotory -MSP isnt the be all and end all of engines, yes , it makes good Hp for a small displacement, but to rebuild it properly costs an arm and a leg, and still it may not last more than 50k miles, here in Europe, the S2 wont pass emissions right out of the box. Those fella's that that are purist's, no offence intended.I love the body style, but seriously, the MSP is a POS, IMO. And opinions are like arseholes, everyone has 1.

While I completely agree with you, this is one of the few times that I've ever seen something come of one of these threads (EJ20 is coming to mind right now for the opposite). Too many people post an idea, without any knowledge of how to go about it.


I just hope he gets the electrical sorted. I know that's one of the hardest parts.

I agree... But the preemptive shitting is discouraging... I would be willing to bet some of the others actually got completed but they just didn't wanna go through the BS of coming back and reporting....

Engine swaps aren't terribly hard if you have the equipment... The hardest part being electrical as metal is easy to cut Weld and hammer...

I really hope the op gets it running....

And stateside the Saabs were giant stinky pos's with a few exceptions...

In Europe however they seem to last much much longer...

Maybe they do better maintenance across the pond...

People in europe probably don't abuse their cars as much. It wouldn't surprise me if they performed maintenance more regularly.

I knocked up an exhaust today.. should do the trick for now..
wrapped it also as there is brake and fuel lines down by the downpipe..
Auxilary belt arrived also..
Some silicone hoses and alloy pipe also..

i love seeing these threads flip flop.

rotaries aren't for everyone and they have more problems than most other engines. the purists just haven't had numerous failures, yet. i can fully understand someone not wanting to sink $3-5k into a car with a resale value of $8k when you have other options at your disposal.

Saab motors are no joke, expectially the b204l that you are using. They can take 300+ whp on stock internals.

I give credit where credit is due and It's cool that he is actually doing work but it's not finished yet guys. Getting the electronics to work is the hardest part so let's see how it ends.

You really should use protection and be more careful before there's a whole load of little unwanted exhausts running around. I mean, seriously, how many homes are out there for an exhaust that fits a Saab motor in a Mazda chassis?
