LSx conversion. Details inside...

Yeah, it has some improvements over the 7 as do any new cars over old ones but the car is still a compromise. Look at what Mazda has released over the past couple years. Of everything, the MX5 has more claim to being a true sports car than the RX8 does. For someone who wants a daily driver with some kick, they could get any of the MS cars that are out there right now. If you are going to build a sports car then do just that, dont build a somewhat sports coupe that everyone will like. I reallize the new FX is going to be a big step forward for NA rotaries but it needs to be paired with a lightweight and nimble chassis to make it shine. Mazda keeps teasing us with crap like the Furai that make us all drool and then come out with the same ol same ol. All of the big Japanese manufacturers are coming out with halo cars again and its time to step up.
Nissan has the GT-R
Honda is working on the next NSX
Toyota has been showing more and more with the ISF and the LF
Mitsu and Subbies are in their own world but Mazda really hasn't shown what the future holds besides the new engine.
Yeah, one of the local guys gave me a copy. Its a very well put together car. Little too much custom work and flashiness for my taste but to each their own. I can still appreciate it for what it is.

you should check out this months issues of STreet Tuner(i think that is the name ) it has a hybrid 3nd gen with grafted rx8 front end, interior pieces, a 13b single that is pass 400hp. it has the 3ng gen taillights, trunk and a modded rear bumper shirt. 19 inch volks. it is one really sweet car--even has the rx8steering wheel.
i would seriously buy that car.

Super Low & Super Slow
iTrader: (1)
I honestly would be interested in one. I love the power and torque of a lsx. I've driven multiple fc's and fd's with ls1s and ls2s in them, and they handle just the same if not better, and with all that power on tap, its really nice.
If someone could come up with one that would keep it low and more towards the back of the firewall, it would keep the 50/50 balance or almost the same balance.
Probably the easiest upgrade would be cryo'd R&P with an aftermarket LSD and BHR axles, or spend some money and swap in a Cobra rear diff.
I mean you can put a small bumpstick, some valvetrain, headers, full 3" exhaust, and a LS6 intake and you have a very reliable 400whp car, and probably a little bit more with a custom tune.

I am going to start shopping for an RX8 just for an LS1 swap. Id be doing mine on a budget, so id sell whatever stock parts I didnt need and stick with an LS1.
LT1 and LS1 can make indentical power, but the LS1 is 80-120lbs lighter being alluminum. I think thats important -- i mean thats why i want an RX8, its LIGHT. The reason i want to do the swap isnt because im trying to be unique. Im just trying to make the car someone should of DONE a long time ago. Imports have style, interior, build quality right sized cars... domestics have horsepower. My 00 firebird weighed 3800lbs and ran 12.80@111mph with a mild cam, bolt ons, tune, street tires, through an automatic. Imagine would an RX8 could do with 350-400whp (thats every day reliable + great gas mileage)
I was thinking about swapping a V8 in my mazdaspeed 6, but the RX8 looks better, lighter, and is already setup for RWD. I really want to keep a 4 door car.
The new camaro, challengers, mustangs keep getting bigger and heavier. i dont understand what they were thinking making those cars almost 4,000lbs...
