So recent Story since were on the topics of Hondas....

Met a guy that lives near me with a black 8. Bought it from a stealership with a "brand new motor". Guy is having trouble with his oil...i pull out his dipstick and its milky! i asked him if he was pouring 1% milk in here and he told me that its normal for this car to have milky oil. o_O srsly!? then he goes to tell me that hes running non-synthetic oil and changes it every 2-3k miles....Also tells me that he is going to super chip it. really? chip it? srsly?
He complains that he cant find any white wheels for the 8, how expensive side skirts are, and how he cant drift in his car....hrmmm

Told him about Works, WEDS, MK, Rays, Grams, why its so expensive, taught him about the fuse on the DSC and he still complains. Loves the car but I swear it will hit the yard soon....

Yeah im thinking to myself after he's telling me this: "black interior, blown motor, low mile tranny, nav system, spoiler-less trunk. Hrmm" so I will let you guys know when it goes to the yard.

anyway back to the point....Hondas Suck!

Milky dipstick is a regular occurrence and is not problematic. They did issue a fix for it, but it should not be problematic if left alone. If that's how his oil looks, then I might be a bit more worried. I wouldn't judge it just from the dipstick.

Also shouldn't be an issue with the non-synthetic oil and the frequency of oil changes. There's a lot of debate on synth vs non-synth and there is not an obvious winner... personal preference. I would say anything less than 2.5k is probably more frequent than necessary, but shouldn't be a problem if he feels like doing it. The specific oil and choice of weight will probably be more significant than the choice of non-synthetic.

Obviously, the chip thing is probably stupid (unless he's referring to an actual tune) and the wannabe drifter attitude could be trouble.

I know all about the concept cars from the 70's. Everyone was playing with the rotary back then. The oil crisis put all of that to a halt. If you suggest to anyone that an LS push rod V8 should be removed and replaced by anything else, yet alone a rotary, they'd go completely crazy. You'd swear the end of the world was upon us. I personally think a Whipple supercharged 3 rotor would be the coolest Corvette ever. It would definitely be the first cool sounding Corvette. Then again I suppose suggesting a supercharger on a rotary is taboo too!

A little off topic, but I think that using a rotary for an electric or hydrogen car could be a good idea.

Very off topic (but then, so is the topic itself )

And yes, it's acknowledged as a good use for those. Mazda even had (has?) a pilot program in Norway or Sweden with MPVs that are electrically driven from a hydrogen fueled rotary generator. Audi is exploring it's use as a range extender. There are several RX-8 concept cars produced that are hydrogen powered.

Etc...

For those that say there isn't any benefits of swapping a f20c/f22c into the rx8 think again, these motors can take a beating.

To the OP i'll be doing this swap shortly once i get everything together. Possibly might do the swap into a FD rx7 shell.

and your point ?

take a beating for how long ?

honestly, I've never, repeat, never seen any of these "so called can take a beating" whatever swap last, either it self destruct just some 10,20, or 30K miles later, the idiot HONDA owner ran into a wall, or the owner just sell it at the end cuz there are "too many" issues, but to save his face, of course he gonna tell everybody that it has "ZERO" issues.

if you want to compare power, how many hp can a 2jz do again? so is it fair for me to call Honda Engines Garbage?

Swap is for MORONS who can't do Rotary engine right.

Jackson they all talk about stupid drag race engines.
A 700hp f20c will only last a couple of laps during a track race and... be undriveable.

So if you were going to compare here, what is better for a swap, an SR20DET or an F20C?

Id say SR, just because of the fact that there is a wider aftermarket for it, and the engine is cheap. All the drifters use them and blow them and repair them over and over. If i was doing a swap id do something a little more exotic if i was spending the time to custom fabricate everything, why go through all the hassle to put some boring motor in it?

id throw in a 2JZ or RB25/26.

OR...

find a way to use a rear mounted rotary engine to power the front wheels. Imagine a 4 rotor sound x2? (assuming a double 4 rotor swap was done to front and rear) Damn. Im really curious what that 6 rotor will sound like now that im talking about this and totally deviating from this thread... but the thread is pretty stupid to begin with and im not sure why it hasnt been filled with spiderman and boob pictures.

oh, and somebody mentioned putting a new motor in a FD... talking about that, at formula drift in Wall NJ, a couple of weeks ago in the Exedy booth, a gray fd was parked next to NYC Driftkings silver rx8 on display and it had a evo motor swap (i believe) **** was stupid.

Why doesn't the OP just buy an S2000 I don't understand why people want to swap engines into RX8's just buy the car with the engine you want to swap in the RX8. problem solved no need for any work or extra cash modifications wiring diagrams etc. everything will work perfectly without any crazy swap issue.
