Frankenstein Fun Thread Let it all Rip!
Good try!
I'm running 12psi at the strip, if you had any any knowledge you would know that's hardly pushing it.
But whatever to makes you feel good about yourself.

And what numbers does your $50k turdbo renny run??

.
Keeping your car in peak power band requires much less skill in a straight line than around a course, which is why I am biased to dislike cars that can only do one thing. A comparison between two cars that can do two things is much more fruitful than a comparison between 2 cars that can only do different things. That's essentially what I mean when I keep bringing up the "comparing apples to oranges" crap!
I assume his comment was intended to say that an NA civic can beat an NA rotary at the drag strip. I'm just pointing out the flip side that the Rx8 boast more performance at the track than at the drag strip. Small displacement, high reving cars generally provide more area under the curve, which is best utilized through a course, rather than a drag strip.

Definitely would, but are you gonna buy me a transmission & diff, cause they don't like 12psi as it is.
And that's the issue... I can go ***** to the wall and turn it up(It's tuned to 20psi)but somthing will suffer!
Remember this is a car that I drive to work/take kids to school and pick them up in
she gets driven all the time. Doesn't sit for more than a day! Doesn't need a stupid cooling tray or a silly oil pressure regulator!
My point being the time is not the greatest YES I know but it's being limited to the stock drive train. By my choice of course or should I say my wallet...lol
Where's your slip?
Better yet where are all these so called fast turdbo rennys??

While not impressive at all considering the whole point of an REW swap is power, your times are your times. it is what it is. I am sure with more boost and a bigger turbo you will be able to run a fast time eventually. We shall see what mine runs on street tires at 8-10psi with my crappy little "turdbo renny",
.
.WHAT!!! 8-10psi!!
Are you kidding me and your the one telling me to turn up the boost bro!!!
Come on now! Don't be scared of that fragile renny.
Show us what a 5 year & $50k RX-8 build can really do!!
Do it, do it, do it!!
.
Every engine has it's limits, I will break it trying to reach the limits of my setup. I won't makes excuses about what it would be capable of if I did this or that.
Which is my point entirely ............. You would have been better off with a Renesis . If you aren't going to use the power it's "capable" of ........ then you may as well have something that runs like stock and cost less .... IE the Renesis.

Saw a Honda Civic run an 8.20 1/4 mile yesterday......
They aren't all slow
We ran an 8.21 with a lift just past 1/8th mile (was just a bit over 146 @ 1/8 and just a bit more at the 1/4).......car was pulling super strong...but needs a bit more setup before we can get it to pull all the way to the end without it getting weird

It's the shop Drag FD.....they have done lots of work on it since last year. It is lighter in the front by quite a bit..
Wasn't sure they threw that run up on FB yet.... It sure wasn't the fastest run with that car...and not too pretty when it got loose
Bit more work and it should be FAST
Was nice to go to Pacific Raceways. They loved to have the car there...so much nicer feeling than what we used to get from the Old Guy American Muscle guys locally

Word from behind the scenes is that they were on custom Michelin R-comps that had just enough custom tread in the mold to be called "road" tires. But, honda won't publicly disclose what tires were used. Tires are everything in ring times...
It wasn't a pilot sport cup either, we are talking a barely treaded with the michelin r-comp blue label compound, same one used on Le Mans GT cars.
I take all road course times with a grain of salt because if you don't fess up on what tires were used your lap time(s) have zero context.
