Hi everyone bought my first rx8 a few months ago and was loving driving it right until I started with a misfire
so I got online and read up about possible causes, it’s almost like it’s not getting fuel no power won’t accelerate
and cuts out if I don’t keep revs up this is the reason why it’s wierd if I steer from side to side while driving it clears and drives normal, couple minutes later and it returns so I thought replace fuel pump and sock no change new leads have been fitted as the old ones looked crappy coils seem to be firing ok if anyone has come across this before any help would be massively appreciated

 

"coils seem to be firing OK" is not a diagnosis. Coils kill engines, be sure. Also check your cat, bad coils will cause the cat to clog and kill the engine with time.

​​​​​​There are as many threads on misfires like this as there are RX8s, and they all look roughly the same: misfires, ignition, cat. A small number end up in different causes having to do with aftermarket intakes or other random stuff.

When I first bought this it came with no cat on it or rear exhaust so I bought new cat and a stainless rear and also o2 sensor
but it does have a aftermarket air intake on it
also noticed a small pool of oil in inlet

 

Hmmm, so it might be barfing up oil into the intake at high rpm. What intake is it exactly?
