System too lean and other problems...

My '04 rx8 is having some problems.

CEL Codes:

p0171 - System too lean on bank 1
p0336 - Eccentric shaft position sensor circuit range / performance problem
p0410 - Air system problem
p0456 - Evap system leak - very small leak
p0442 - Evap system leak detected - small leak
p0420 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold

When it first started I had just gotten of of the highway and stopped at a stoplight the engine started idling rough and trying to die. I revved it up a little to keep it running and got down the street and it cleared up. There was a loss of power before it cleared up. Happened again the next day. It is idling rough constantly now. I after it ran last I noticed the catalytic converter and exhaust pipe behind it were glowing red hot. There is severe loss of power.

The p0456 has been on for a while I don't remember if the p0442 has always been on. I think the catalytic converter heating up and the p0420 a probably the result of whatever problem I'm having. Going looking for a vaccum leak tomorrow.

Any insights?
It's got about 90k on the car less than 10k on the engine.

The evap system leak might be as simple as a gas filler cap not sealing tightly. Check that by giving it a good twist and the same with the oil filler cap.
A simple possible fix for the ESS is to give it a good cleaning. It might have picked up a load of dirt especially if it has been wet or humid lately. A glob of dirt could be giving the system a fault reading and a quick spray with parts cleaner and wipe with a clean rag followed by a NVRam reset might well clear that code.

If, after all that, the catalyst code is still up, head for a reputable exhaust specialist and ask if they can temp. test the cat. A specialist here told me that a temp reading front to back will give an indication whether the cat still works and will give you a ballpark idea whether or not to pursue either replacing or gutting the cat.

I cleaned the MAF sensor and the E shaft sensor. Cleared the NVRam then disconected the battery. Gonna let it sit for a minute then try to start it up.

Check your vacuum hoses on the passenger side of the motor. Sometimes when replacing motors they get crossed. Also have someone start it cold and listen for the air pump to turn on and run for a few seconds. the P0420 can be a result of the system too lean code. I'd start there.

Forgot, on the driver's side there's a black line with a red (or blue can't remember) snap clip. Make sure it's pressed on all the way. You'll hear a click if it's not. That line runs from the gas tank to the intake and could cause the majority of the codes you have.
