Hey Congrats and Welcome to the forum.

Depending on how you drive you may need to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles.
What type of oil is a long debate. I use 10w40 castrol or mobil in summer and 10w30 in winter
no synthetics though.

Make sure you read and re-read and re-read this thread till your eyes bleed and brains hurt;

they have a ton of info packed for you, first link is your rx8 bible.

Did you get a compression test done? if so, what were the numbers?

Provide more details about your car as in mileage, auto/manual, condition etc so folks can guide you in right direction.

Once again welcome to the forum if you have any questions feel free to ask

cheers

Yes, oil is consumed by design. Check your oil level at every fill-up and add some as necessary.

What type of oil is a toxic question around here. In the end, it's between conventional oil at the weight called for in the manual or Mobile 1 0w-40 that's been getting good results from Blackstone Labs.

There are a hundred other things you need to stay on top of as well, read the new owner's stickies at least once a week until you can recite it all by heart.

But make sure you do it *after* your oil is nice and warmed up! Of course, this also doesn't mean you should just idle until it's warm. Just drive it normally till it's warmed up (a good 10 minutes on average) and then nail the tach.

Thank you for all the feedback. Well i have a manual and it has around 34,500 miles. It seems to be in pretty good condition still.

Only add oil if it shows low on the stick. Checking your oil every other fill up is the easiest way to stay on top of it. Jealous of your R3. Treat her right!
