The main thing is to ensure the engine is known good. You also want to ensure you get the correct engine for your car. There are 4 port and 6 port engines.

The engine currently in the car is the 6port jdm engine. It was imported and put in by the previous owner, I found all the paperwork for it in the glovebox

This seems common practice as its far less expensive to buy used engines but they won't last as long as a proper reman. Even if known good. To get 40k miles out of a random used JDM engine is rather impressive.

Well as I don't have the money for a rebuild or a new motor I guess the cars going to sit for awhile. Thank you guys for your time. I hope one day ill be able to drive it again.

Try to get $2,000 if its still in decent shape. Use the money to buy another RX8.

I wouldn't want to sell it, put too much work into it. Bucket seats, kbd kit, wing, intake, exhaust. Covid has just made my money situation complicated. Also sentimental value lol. Until It gets its new motor its probably just going to sit in my garage unfortunately.
