HKS Legamax vs Racing Beat Exhaust?

I have plastic melted to my muffler and the shroud above is rusted. Going to be replacing both and thought it would be a good time to upgrade.

BHR midpipe is enroute. Which catback exhaust would sound better (not loud) for a secondary DD? I know there's a good bit of price difference. Are they both equally constructed well?

Not looking to entertain other options these are the 2 I've narrowed it down to!

I would recommend the Racing Beat, i plan on swapping out to a racing beat myself as well. It will sound little more aggressive but from what ive been told for me compared to my current mazdaspeed one. Racing beat is also more readily available new if thats what you're going for. I would imagine it being cheaper than the HKS as well.

On my '06, in combination with a RP hi-flow supercat, the Mazdaspeed dual exhaust was way louder/aggressive than the Racing Beat. Between 4 and 6K it was especially noticeable. I was told by co-workers following me that the Mazdaspeed sounded kinda ricey. I would think in CA you'd try to keep it low key.

Well I got sick of the melting plastic smell 🙄 😒 (melted bag on muffler...) so I pulled the trigger on racing beat. With shipping it was considerably less than the HKS.

I wasn't looking into other alternatives because I didn't want overly loud and it seems like both of these are on the quiet side. I will take clips with stock, stock with bhr midpipe and then ultimately with the RB catback.

Just passed inspection so the Cat is coming out!

I'm in a similar position and considering the RB exhaust as well, for the same reasons. Question though, I'm also debating between the BHR and RB mid-pipes, any reason why you chose BHR over RB?

I'm still an RX8 newbie but I believe the BHR is lighter. It's also able to accomplish with a single resonator what the RB pipe does with two. From the videos I watched and posts I've read there should be no drone from it and it still allows the car to sound good.

I remember seeing on “Slip Angle” YouTube the Racing Beat choked the mid pipe at the flange to an OD less than 3”.

Is there an update to their mid pipe that stays 3” the entire length?

I got the BHR midpipe. It also chokes down due to the stock donut.
