Unhappy RX8 Problems! (Noises, stalling)

I have a 2007 Mazda RX8
I've drove it and nothing sounded bad, untill now
It dies like once a day or twice when you stop and idle for a little,
It rattles when going 30+MPH,
It makes a squeaking sound when you're pressing the gas
I just need someone in the houston area, near Little-york or Airline, to see whats wrong and what do we need to do with it... Its my first car and I love it, I hate to sell it...

I guess there is no one in your area that's interested in helping you.
Looks like you're on your own

This may have possible answers to a few of those, I am new here aswell but I get the feeling people around here want you to work for your rewards. This thread I linked was literally 5 above yours in the stickied.

Good luck finding out what is ailing the car though man!

It is not that so much as people are tired of answering the same questions over and over again. The OP's problems are all covered in the stickies. Also covered in the stickies is how to use Google or Bing to perform advanced searches against this site for better search results. The problems he is having have been discussed literally hundreds of times.

Just so I won't look like a [SEARCH NEWB!!!] guy, and because the OP is a fellow Texan, here are the places to start:

1. Clean the MAF and ESS
2. If you do not know the history of the ignition system, replace the coils, plugs, and wires, and plan on doing this every 20K or so, because that is how long they typically last. We consider them wearable items in this car, as they fail frequently and cause all sorts of problems when they go.

Read these sticky threads in their entirety:

https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/

https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...ot-8-a-202548/

https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...causes-249529/

The best way to search RX8Club

If answers cannot be found there, we need to know as much about the car (any modifications, which transmission, trim model, etc.) as possible, about any CEL codes he has (get them read), and more detailed descriptions of the problems.

WCS is completely right, this is my first car, I rarely know anything about RX8's, But I love it, my mom is trying to convince me to sell it and get 4,000$ or 3,500R$.. However, I choose not to.. I want someone else to do it. It's sad to say I don't know what a ESS is but, I'm pretty sure the car shaking at idle is the ESS, and it sounds like a Honda Civic when driving like its loud when you open the windows... If you ever driven in a 2004-05 Civic thats been driven hard.. I might take it too Gap Geon.

Unhappy RX8 Problem!

Major Question!

Okay so about a month ago, my RX8 started making noises
When Driving at 30 MPH or higher it makes like a Rattling Noise, also it Shakes roughly when idle and sounds like a go-kart when driving

and a another thing about the catalytic converter, can a really bad catalytic converter be the problem to the car shutting of when stoping at a red light sometimes? Cause the converter is very old..

Unfortunately for you, shutting off a red light can be a sign of low compression. The seals on the engine wear out, and at low speeds (idle or stopped at a light) the old seals cannot hold in the expanding gases of combustion, and the rotor doesn't spin. No spin means no power, no power means it shuts down. You will need a rotary specific compression test. A Mazda Dealer should charge about a hundred bucks. Insist on them printing out your results. You will have six numbers. Come back here and tell us the numbers.

The shaking at idle could be a bad motor mount. Not the end of the world, but you will want to get it replaced.

If all this is true then what would be the total cost? in your opinion?

Also if you dont mind after explaining what might be wrong. How much would it cost in total? if its more than 1,000$ i'm just going to sell the car.. To much money to put into

Yes a bad catalytic converter can cause minor flooding '' engine stall but able to restart'' and a really bad one can cause major flooding wich will become a real pain in the a** process to deflood on the road side lol, Clinking noises can also come from it at a certain rpm range if pieces of it gets loose inside your cat. Do you have a check engine light ? Unusual smells from the car? lost of power?

It sounds like your cat is bad.
Do not drive it until you get it checked out.
You can ruin your engine, and a rebuild will cost you thousands of dollars.
It's a well known weak point with our cars, why many of us install midpipes.
Drop it, check it, if it's bad, replace it or gut it.
Any flashing or solid CEL?
Get your OBD scanned for any stored or pending codes, that will help narrow it down.
A compression check would be a good idea at this point to determine if your engine is damaged.
Then you'll probably need to replace your ignition components if it hasn't been done in the last 30k miles or if you don't know when they were done last.
Good luck!

It's against forum rules to multi-post

How many times are you going to post the same thread, OP? This form has become sleepy as the cars have aged. It sometimes takes a while to get an answer. Creating 3 or 4 threads is not going to speed things up for you; it is just going to **** people off. It is counterproductive at best.

Engine Rebuild

If it is low compression, you will need a rebuild. A good rebuild, by a reputable shop, will cost between four and five thousand dollars. Yea, it can be done for less, but that is cutting corners. Think of it like this: would you go to a hospital advertising the cheapest heart surgery in town? Probably not. A dealer will offer a re manufactured motor, but those can be iffy. Your best bet is to have your engine torn down, problems repaired, and reinstalled in your car.

However, all of this is putting the cart before the horse. Get the test done, and see what your engine looks like. There are other problems that will cause the engine to die.

Good luck!

13. Multiple posts about the same thing across many forums are considered "spamming" the site and may result in the poster being banned.

Please don't spam the sub-forums with the same post. It's not only against site rules, it's incredibly annoying to see multiples of the same post in the new post section. Thanks.

Threads merged. Title also changed, since it was also violating a rule.

Guys that pointed out the rules, thank you, but please also use the report feature to let us know so we can resolve it. I just happened to notice this, which isn't a reliable method.
