p2004 error code after tapping throttle at 7k rpm.

I was accelerating in my rx8 and was tapping the accelerator because i was looking over at traffic trying to merge. One tap at around 6.5-7k rpm made me lose all power to the motor. After trying to start it, it will just spin and spin with the occasional misfire at the back. I've tried to start in the deflooding mode and it did nothing. I plugged my scanner in and it gave me the p2004 code. Is the APV stock open or shut? Should I just replace upper intake manifold all together?

The valves aren't in the UIM so it's not that. I would be surprised if it flooded during the event but it might now be flooded from the restarting attempts. Having a valve stuck open can definitely mess with starting, depending on which one it is. At the same time, a stuck valve shouldn't stall the engine entirely, it'll onky affect the regimes where the valve is supposed to be open but isn't. Feel like there's something else at play.. Have you had a look at the spark plugs?
