New RX8 Owner, Need Help!
Hey everyone, today I got an 05 RX8 six speed with 102k miles. The guy that gave it to me took off his nice exhaust and left a cat and a mid pipe on there, not a big deal so im needing a stock exhaust for now. The big deal is he also took his K&N air intake. So im running very rich with no intake on the car!! Im in desperate need of an oem one or even aftermarket, i can shell out a few bucks but i need one asap and cant find one off craigslist. Im located in Dallas, Texas if anyone can help . ALso Ive done a decent amount of research on them and such, can i just fill up the oil whenever it gets low and do an actual change at 3,000 miles or do i have to oil change every 1-2k.

Never fear, Jedi is here!
First off, welcome to the addiction...err...."club".
Now onto your post:
so the car has a midpipe with a catalytic in it? You sure it's not just a resonated midpipe?
does it smell really bad? if so, probably no cat.
IF it's the stock Mazda cat it would be easy to tell if you post a picture for us.
there is NO intake on it at all? No filter element?
nothing? Again, can you take a pic of the engine bay? I'm curious about the MAF tubing because that will cause the car to rough rough if it isn't reading stable airflow.
As for adding an intake: OEM should be pretty cheap, check the For Sale subforum to see if anyone is parting out a car.
if not, aftermarket is also reasonably priced. I'd look for AEM or Racing Beat, those are your best options.
As for the oil changes, keep an eye on the oil level every couple hundred miles or so and top off if needed but just do regular oil changes at 3,000 mile intervals and you should be good.

Re:
Thank you so much for the speedy reply and making me feel welcomed haha. Sorry for the dark pictures I can take more tomorrow in the light if I jack it up. As for the smell it doesn't smell like any regular car I've driven. In the picture I have attached I'm pretty sure that's the cat.

I can't imagine how terrible it runs without the intake or MAF hooked up....
You need them.... seriously....
Catbacks while not exactly "Mandatory" are greatly appreciated by your neighbors. If that is in fact what you were talking about.. The "mid pipe" your referring to is the stock CAT.
Read through the two links posted in my SIG. The new and potential owners thread is a MUST for all new owners

I've got an intake I could probably get shipped down to you. However, I'm using the lower shroud for air flow direction, so you'd be SOL on that. If your interested I'll holler at my mechanic and we can work something out.
