New Member in SouthWest Looking to Get My First RX-8
Hello all,
I’m new to the forum and new to RX-8’s I’ve been a master mechanic for the past 10 years and have owned a lot of cars, trucks and motorcycles but have almost no experience with rotaries other than minor repairs at some of the shops I’ve worked at. A few of my friends have older FC RX-7’s so I’ve driven them and a couple FD’s and I absolutely loved how they all drove, so I’ve decided to get one of these spiny triangles for myself. Following my friends advise and all the reading and research I could do online my sights are set on a series 2 RX-8. Any comments, questions or suggestions are welcome as I am looking forward to being part of the Mazda RX-8 owner community.

Main thing is to have a recent compression test to confirm the engine wont give you problems. Everything else is relatively simple. Read through the new owners sticky on this forum. Will answer a lot of your questions about maintenance and ownership. What budget do you have? Have you checked Auto Tempest or buying locally?
I will diffidently have to read through the new owners sticky because I’ve heard and read a lot of conflicting information about things like adding two stroke premix to your gas tank when you fill up and much shorter than standard service intervals. My budget is $10,000-$15,000 I want something with low miles that doesn’t have any or possibly very minor upgrades/mods because I’m looking to daily drive it around 30 miles per day. I’ve only been checking locally (Las Vegas) on Craigslist, Facebook and word of mouth but it seems like a good condition low mileage series 2 is hard to come by but I’m more than willing to make a weekend trip or have one shipped as long as it’s within reason.
