New member and RX8 owner reporting in!

Hi everyone! I've been a lurker here since about May of this year and figured it's about time I'd chime in.

Recently (being May, again) I was fortunate enough to have stumbled upon a used 40th Anniversary RX8 for sale at an exceptional price. Prior to finding this vehicle I was on the hunt for an FD but results showed the nearest one to me under $15,000 was a good half a day's drive, and this beautiful RX8 was an hour drive away AND at a Mazda dealership, so they did a good job making sure it was healthy. My 8 had 62,262 when purchased and now I've put about 2,245 miles on it.

Unfortunately now, the CEL is on, but it's having an oil change tomorrow and will be diagnosed. This is odd, because it's not showing symptoms of bad health. I've been good to it so far, I had topped it off (with 5w-20) at 2k miles and only feed it the highest octane in my area. Other than that, it sure is an amazing drive. Although I must say the clutch really is different, very abrupt though precise, and rev-matching is still a little difficult with me.

Thank you for the read! I will post pictures of it here soon, I do not have any on my computer.

Minced,

Welcome to the forum.

Since your already heading to the garage tomorrow we will wait to see the outcome.

Read the two links in my Signature block. The new and potential owners thread is a must for all 8 owners.

Also, a word of caution....Read read read before you post up your questions. Remember this is an older car. Someone has had your issue at some point in time and more likely than not it is documented here.

Other than that, enjoy the car and the forum

Travis

Welcome. Love your choice, but then I am a 40 AE owner myself. It was bought new in 2008. I got a great deal, but I am sure I paid a lot more than you did, but not disappointed ever !
