New Member... First RX8 coming soon!

As my subject title states, I am brand new here, and looking to learn as much as I can about the RX8. I have lusted for one of these fine cars for a very long time, and am finally in a position to purchase one. I reside in Newfoundland, a province that has almost no RX8's, but I am planning to soon travel to Ontario in search of a good one. I admittedly know little about these cars, and wish to learn as much as I possibly can in order to acquire a (hopefully) pristine 2006-2009 model. Any/all suggestions/pointers/tips you can suggest will be wholeheartedly welcomed. I would love to hear from those who currently own one; get some guidance as to what to particularly be on the lookout for, in my quest to snag a particularly nice, low mileage car that requires little or nothing to make it A-1... and what I should expect to pay for it.

And in closing, I look forward to becoming an active contributing member of this club/forum, and to make many aquaintances/friends, with those who share my passion for these unique automobiles.

Best regards,
Glen B.

People may have been a little busy on the 25th.
Welcome.
Read the new owner stickies for your best info, prices are subjective.
Try KBB or Edmunds.
Most importantly, do not buy one without getting a rotary specific compression test.
Good luck!

Just looked at about 5 beautiful rx8's ranging from 7-12k and ended up with a 2006 for somewhere in the middle. Low mileage, compression tested, and I'm a happy guy.

In my search I noticed a lot of great deals in Ottawa and Quebec, might be worth a look.

Good luck on the search

Thank-you, thank-you everyone! I was feeling a bit isolated there for a bit... wasn't even thinking that Christmas was the cause of the lack of response to my post. But I am thrilled that you have replied, and am looking forward to learning a lot from you guys. I have read through all of the stickies, and everything else relevant, and have learned much from these, but I am sure I have a lot to learn yet.

Due to spinal issues, I have yet to set a date to travel from Northern Newfoundland to Quebec and Southern Ontario in an effort to purchase one of these beauties, but it will be sometime in the next month or two. I will keep you all updated on my progress, and I'm sure I will have many questions also!

Thanks again,
Glen

Hey Camperbc It might be worth giving these Quebec or Ottawa sellers a call. Maybe they have a (good compression tested) RX8 and they will hold the car for you ( in writing) with a down payment until you can get there. I have had back issues myself over the years. I just would hate to see you miss out on the right car at the right price for you until you are healed enough to travel.
