New here, new owner

Hello,
I'm new here and just trying to get a feel for the rotary world. My first car was a 240sx, went from there to a 300zx, 280z, magnum rt, and now my 04 rx8. I had a few other cars here and there but I've always wanted a rotary and now I'm terrified to touch my car because I don't know anything about it.
I have a 6spd mt 6 port 112k miles. It seems stock except the k&n and some slotted and drilled break rotors.

I recently drove it on a short trip about 600, and about 200 miles into it I had some major issues with power loss. It felt like I was driving a 2cylinder geo and I could barley get it up to speed.
Its running fine since I got it back home but I know something is wrong.
I'm looking for some direction to the right thread or something idk.

Any help or advice is appericated.
Thanks!
Chelsea

Read the stickies in the new owners area. They cover a lot of the good to know first stuff

Do you get a CEL when the car is down on power? Is it flashing? or solid?

If by K&N you mean the full K&N intake, then it's not doing you any favours and could be partly responsible for the issue. The stock intake is basically best.

Sounds the like the previous owner went for cheap mods, so give the car a full review, especially the points outlined in the New and Potential Owners sticky in the New Member forum
