New 8 Owner
New 8 Owner
I just procured a non-running 2007 Mazda RX-8 GT 6M from a local dealer for $500. They had the car for almost a year, but no rotary specialists on staff and they just didn't know what to do with the car (I'm shocked they didn't just auction it). I cam along (not knowing the shape it was in) and heard how negatively they spoke of the car, so I decided to offer the low amount I did, thinking I'd be laughed away. Fast-forward two weeks and the sales manager send me the documents, accepting my offer. It cost a bit more by the time fees, registration, tax, and towing were all said and done, but I still excited to the outcome.
Presently I drive a 2016 MX-5 6M, though I may part ways with it given the RX-8 will fill the role of sporty car once repaired. I previously owned a 94' RX-7 Touring (automatic that I converted to manual) and miss that car dearly, their ridiculous upshot in value and my interest in having a fun four-seater instead, has placed the idea of another FD behind me. I am going into the 8 with the expectation that a new motor is going to be needed, but will be investigating other possible failures as well, in the event it is just something silly, like ignition or carbon lock/flooding.
I will create a detailed thread regarding the car under the Series 1 - Tech section once I have passed the newbie threshold.
Here are a few pictures:

I have a lot of plans for the car, but first I need to finish fixing current work I have underway on my Jeep Cherokee, so that the RX8 can come into the garage for a proper diagnosis.
