Jdm rx engine swapping nightmares

Buying a used JDM engine won't likely result in a better engine compression wise than a similar engine purchased here. Traditionally JDM engines for RX-7's were purchased as cores to be rebuilt.
Used rotary engines without a rebuild are not a "thing".... like buying used low mileage JDM piston engines

In what way did they not work? You're going to have to give us more details. Does it crank? Does it catch and die? Does it make a loud screeching noise and then flirt with your sister?
A JDM engine that isn't completely hosed should just work as long as you're replacing a 6-port USDM motor with a 6-port JDM motor. Just use the ECU, wire harness, and everything else that came with your car.
JDM engines are a risky choice all around. They don't typically come with warranties and when they do the warranty is just "will start". They don't have compression test results so you have no idea how much life is left in the engine. People think 50k mile engines are a safe bet but mine needed rebuilding by 48k miles.

You don't really need to do anything to the engine itself. Should be plug and play assuming you're swapping the same kind. So if it's not working either the engines are hosed or the car is hosed in ways an engine can't fix. Use your original ECU, do not use one out of any other rx8.

You gotta overnight parts from Japan and live quarter mile a time fam.
Seriously, though, why is there like a wave of people who want JDM engines, let alone used ones? I am not aware of any differences between USDM and JDM RX-8 engines. If there is any power differences, it's probably all in the tuning, not any mechanical parts.
A Mazda reman/built Renny from a reputable builder is 1000x better than "jdm engne wil start but otherwise good luk lulz."

What is the engine doing? I bought a JDM engine for my car and still using it today, everything was just like the US engine no difference at all.
I always got a little confused with the injector wiring so it is possible you may have hooked them up wrong
