Issues when pressing gas pedal
Hello got an 05 auto w/ optional manual
my issue is whenever i start out my car feels like its having trouble whenever i press the gas pedal down. After i press it down i can feel the car like studder, even if i press the pedal all the way down it will take like 4-5 seconds before it auctally starts reving up.
-1st Test: at stop sign pressed the pedal about half way down car takes studders rpms won't shoot up until around 3500 rpm.
-2nd test: at stop sign pressed the pedal to the floor same thing as number 1.
-3rd test: at 40 mph i floor it and it goes but doesn't seem like it had the power i used to have about a week ago.
it seemed like i started having these issues after poruing a whole can of seafoam into my gas tank (the gas tank was full)
any ideas.?

(M) Manual Mode - i can redline no problems.
(D) Drive Mode (Auto) - can go up to the rev limiter.
problem just seems like when i take off from stop signs or red lights

First of all, when and why Seafoam? Was there some symptom that it *claimed* to solve? Second, what condition are your ignition components in? The hesitation could be caused by faulty ignition failing to create enough spark for takeoff. How was the compression? How is it now? Do you use Super grade gas or regular? Do you use premix or not?
There are a lot factors that could contribute to what you are experiencing, none of which you have divulged.
Personally, I am not a believer in Seafoam or other chemicals added to fuel when not recommended by Mazda or reputable rotary specialists. I have visions of chemical cleaners possibly stripping away the oil from the internal components as fast as the oiling system can provide it. I think you can guess what effect that would have and understand my reluctance to experiment like you did. However, that aside, if I had done what you did, I think I would first add premix oil to your gas for the next while til the tank with the Seafoam is burned off and then, fill up with Super, add premix and give it a long highway run to clear things out. If it still has issues, review the maintenance to determine if the ignition is old and possibly failing and sensors like MAF, IAT and ESS are clean. If all reviews come up clear of potential problems, I would seriously consider a compression test at the dealer accompanied by firmly crossed fingers.
Good luck with it.

I wish I could help, however I would like to pipe in and say that after I used seafoam as directed, my car had issues after issues until I sold it. Coincidence?

I have seen and heard from people that swear by it but i wouldn't bother. Too much at risk to fool around with it on the off chance it will do something positive.
There is a video on YouTube I watched where the guy in it tested seafaom against standard upper cylinder cleaner and guess what failed miserably.
BTW, he determined and documented that the smoke produced by seafoam is misleading as he tested it in a factory fresh 4-stroke engine and got the same result as in a dirty engine. The smoke produced was identical to that produced when he dripped a bit of baby oil into the carb while it was running. Scam in a can or coincidence?

Why would you sell your 8, "Mazdarx8lover"?...
Throwing any CEL'S (check engine light)
1st. New and potential owners thread
2nd. Condition and milage on coils/plugs
Have been known (coils) to have life expectancy roughly 20k miles+/-
3rd. Drop and check to ensure catalytic converter is not clogged (you should be able to see through the.
"honeycomb ")
4th. Compression check
5th. A whole can of seafoam (even as directed) in your gas tank is a lot. Although I've never used it. It would be a last measure for me. I think as directed 1/4 can, at most half can down gas? It WILL remove the oil film on the rotors and housings which is a big no no. Use modestly if anything. Please check/ remedy these things before potentially doing more harm. Wondering how long you ran the car for after seafoam? How long to completely burn a whole can off? I'd check these things before driving again. You run the risk of doing major damage. Should you have no other option aside from driving this car, daily top of the tank to help dilute the seafoam???

Replaced spark plugs and starter about a month ago. Car has 59k miles im the 2nd owner of the car so I dont know about coils or anything. Could the coils be causing it? Also the only cel I had was evap leak but thats on permanent. I use 89+ grade and I alao do not premix

Don't ruin it with a giant useless wing . . . just my opinion. I think the only Blue SII you can get is an R3, which comes with a spoiler, but no sunroof. There are plenty out there under 50k miles last I looked, depending on how much you want to spend on it.
As for the OP, if this started as soon as you added the seafoam, I would have to assume that is the culprit. If you cant drain the gas tank, then take it easy on driving it until you need to refill it. Then premix (I would add premix now to offset the seafoam/oil issue). Also, it is time to replace your coils and wires if you haven't done so already anyway, so you may as well do that too. Two birds, one stone.

Sorry cronic for adding my useless to you posts hahaha
I must say tho, djgiron, I honestly didn't know that the S2 didn't have any blue with the sunroof. that's probably why I have yet to find one for sale... haha
thanks for the heads up. and as for the wing, I think it adds an interesting look especially after I through the bodykits on. But yeah it is so useless in every way. I may reconsider however.

"Never use fuel system additives. Never add cleaning agents other than those specified by Mazda. Other cleaning agents and additives may damage the system"
Sounds to me like they anticipated the use of Seafoam and frown on it, at best. It also seems to support the theory that adding it in such huge quantity to your fuel may have damaged part or all of the fuel system in addition to probably stripping the oils film from internal parts. If you have not done so already, I would suggest having a mechanic pump out the remaining fuel mixture and refill it with fresh fuel with a healthy dose of top-quality premix oil and cross your fingers that the Seafoam hasn't irreversibly damaged anything vital. I would also recommend checking your bank balance and what credit remains on your credit card in case it is too late to avoid said damage.

He also has a turbocharged 3-rotor.
Wings allow you have a higher cornering speed, they do not make you faster at any point in time. In fact, they will make you slower in a straight line, thanks to added drag.
If you are adding a wing for sound, it's installed wrong.
If you are adding a wing for looks... well, that's subjective, and plenty of people will disagree with you.

@ Chronic.
The seafoam likely did something, may have just cleaned up some dirty injectors, helped the fuel pump, or moved some garbage around.
If it was me, i would throw a 3 0z bottle of 2 cycle oil in the gas tank and drive easy, just in case there is an oil film issue. I would also go through the Congrats stickie (the $100 thread in my sig). Whatever the seafoam changed, it is likely it generated enough change that the computer is trying to figure it all out. Start with cleaning MAF, ESS, look to grounds then see what happens. Likely add a 20 brake stomp to reset all the trims. It could even be that you got crappy gas for the tank the SeaFoam is in.
How big a can did you add by the way? I have tossed the smaller one, 8 to 12 oz, in several times with no issues. I prefer the lucas fuel treatment myself, and use it when I change the oil.

First off, for just general care, use 91 octane + fuel. You lose tons of power when you use regular unleaded. Yeah its more expensive, but when you put your foot down and the engines zooms like the 8 should, its worth it. Second, don't throw any more crap into the engine. If the problems started with you putting the seafoam in it, the last thing you wanna do is try throwing more chemicals in there. Check your oil, and use a good 5W-20, not synthetic. Drive around on it for a while and see if the engine can churn out all the excess crap. And don't forget, a redline a day keeps the carbon away. If nothing changes, then ya, you may wish to get it looked at.
