Fuel pump install gone bad im dumb

ok folks i installed a new fuel pump and then went cheapo and bought some off brand lock ring tha sorta fit but didnt so i had the stupid idea of using JB WELD GAS BLOCKING EPOXY. well it didnt work out to well as there is a leak. My stupid idea i caused is costing me bucks i oredered all OEM new retainer ring, rubber sealer and lockdown ring.

My question is (im sure no one is as dumb and lazy as me) i was wanting to remove every thing but i dont wanna blow up I have a hand dremel with a fiber glass cutter attachment. Is this a good idea? I need to cut away the ring then the pump and finally remove the retainer ring. this is gonna be a bitch as i just globbed the stuff on I also though ah fug it ill buy some more JB weld and pile it all over..(dumb and lazy idea again).

So i wanna do it right. Anyone can tell me if they was me (oh gawd) how would they approach this removal....Yes im embarrassed but I know i come to a place that has some awsome people who have helped be it me reading and researching or posting. I love this car but cant love it if im blown to bits. Thanx All...( sorry my grammer is poor) oh its a 2005 base touring 91,000.

You shouldn't get sparks cutting the ring off.... just the motor brushes on the Dremel I guess.

If you do it outside in a well ventilated area you should be good.

A fire extinguisher would be a good idea
You might want to siphon fuel down below 1/4 tank as well....

ok thank you. i was also gonna pour acetone in the well area to soften up the Weld. I read its the only thing that breaks it down. I thought 24hrs then id go on with your suggestion. i am below the level. was also thinking i could siphon out a bit more. but either way im sure ill have to clean out the tank in case some of the acetone drips in the gas. thank you

A bit of acetone won't be a problem mixed into the gas

Bits of grinding will be more likely to cause a problem.

not sure how well the epoxy will have stock to the ABS tank material anyway... so you might not need the acetone till you are trying to clean up towards the end of the removal
