fuel pump going bad or started losing compression
Hi ,
I have 04 Automatic rx8 GT with 37,000 KM's new plugs , coils , battery , have installed a recondition aftermarket fuel pump , , my car was starting perfectly and was running fine till last week , but today I noticed that my car takes some extra seconds to start up when it s hot , but not always , sometimes , so is t my fuel pump going bad and have to mention this as well if I floor my car n low fuel it suddenly dies on me. so does my fuel pump is the culprit or im early stages losing engine compression.

Reconditioned aftermarket pump only or whole fuel pump assembly? You need to check fuel pressure. It could also be your starter. You need to properly diagnose the issue, guessing won't help.

Well just replacing the pump in a high mileage fuel pump assembly is not really a smart move IMO because you still retain a fuel pump assembly with worn out components.
That said, without checking the fuel pressure you really don't know. If you want to know if you are losing compression then go to the dealer and pay $150.00 for a compression test, it is a small price to pay for peace of mind. But IMO, jumping to conclusions is a bad idea. More often than not, problems are not compression related. Proper diagnosis of problems is key.
