First Rotary

So I got my first Rotary. A 2005 RX-8, the green one. The POS dealer misrepresented it as a Shinka, and since I didn't do my homework, I'm sure I overpaid for it based on that. Regardless, my wife loves this thing, so I will learn to live with the 19 mpg. Mostly I ride my motorcycle, but when I move from Florida, that won't be an option all year anymore. I am having 2 problems, one is really annoying, but I will save that for another post, after I post the ridiculous 10 posts to become a "real" member. Sure seems like a power trip by admins, as most people I know that join these forums do so because they are having a problem. I have not joined several because of dumb rules this this, but I need to be able to talk to other owners that don't charge hourly rates to troubleshoot, so here I am suffering through the process. With that, the journey begins.

It's 10 posts AND 30 days, you have to meet both (which you mean the 30 day bit)

And no, it isn't a power trip. And no it isn't actually crippling. The new member subforum is for new members to ask their questions. Yes, including problems that you have. Just scan down the other threads in this subforum to see other threads of problems that new members are having and asking about. The reason for this is that before this restriction was put into place, new members were being chased off the forum due to a portion of existing members getting really bent out of shape from frustration of seeing the same questions asked over and over and over again, and hammering new owner's with unpleasant responses. Since implementing the restriction, those existing members just stay out of the new member subforum, and those of us with patience to keep repeating ourselves again and again stick around in here to help.

We get more compliments from new members that appreciate the dedicated place to get help at, than we do new members that are irritated by the restriction. (The restriction is also of a great help against spam bots)

No, I don't charge for my help either, so just ask the question? You will likely be past the 10 posts by the time we finish discussing your issue anyway.

Edit: I just moved your issue thread to the audio subforum for more specific help, as it isn't a common question and it's one that I can't answer. I'm betting that the audiophiles will be able to answer you though.

Thanks for the quick reply, and the explanation. I will try to exercise patience with the process. I can read the other stuff, I just can't weigh in, and I have to just accept it. I actually have already been here over 30 days, as I left without posting after seeing the 10 post rule. But since I want to fix the car, I came back. ;-)~

The restriction is JUST for creating threads. There isn't a restriction on posting replies to existing threads. You are free to reply to any existing thread on the forum still, to weigh in as desired. (As long as you are still within the other rules around what post content we don't approve of here)

I figured that out to, after I figured out how to log in. haha Wouldn't let me post because I was viewing as a guest. So, yeah, there is a learning curve to the car, and the forum. I'll get it one day.

1. Need to replace the coolant overflow tank so the light will go off. No biggie.

2. Radio has several issues)

1. Comes on and works (0.1% of the time)

2. Goes in and out as if the antenna can't get a signal, but it's not the antenna because a CD wont' even play when it's doing this. It eventually works for the most part. By that I mean the door mid bass speakers usually don't work for very long, if at all, so it sounds like the radio is operating at 25% power. (99% of the time)

3. Radio has Zero operation, not working, not going in and out. Eventually it will do the in and out thing, then work again, usually without the mid bass speakers working. (0.9% of the time)

I think that there is a loose connection at the rear amp, or the amp is slowly dying, or the head unit is slowly dying. I eventually want to change the head unit, but not until I figure out what is wrong with the system. Smacking the door panels, or the underdash where the HU is mounted has no effect.

My wife claims it's worse when it's wet or cold, but I think it's the same.

That is my life when I drive that car, which is rare, because I live in Florida and have a motorcycle that gets 46 mpg or so.
