Cleaning Upper Intake Manifold
Hi guys, couldn't really find any info on cleaning the UIM.
I've owned my 04 rx8 for about 17 months & over 100k kms she is at 251k kms
So decided to give her a nice cleaning treatment.
I am planning to clean the entire intake system from the filter box to throttle body to upper ntake manifold. Just had a few questions before I stab at it;
1) Are there any benefits?
2) Are there any gaskets that needs to be replaced once UIM is disassembled?
3) Anything I should look out for, pay extra attention too?
while at it, I will also clean the MAF, ESS sensor and most likely power wash the engine bay.
Any suggestions, advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Outside or inside?
First, welcome..
Second, the only thing I have seen needing cleaned, unless oil got dumped in the air box, is the SSV. I have looked inside mine with the throttle body off, and it is pretty clean. Now, with those miles, the SSV is likely a bit of a mess. There is a DIY and video on the process. Not hard, just tedious. That seems to be the trap for all things related to crud for inside the engine.
With an 04, I would also look through the $100 thread below. She will love you for those mods.
And, welcome..
