A/C compressor going out? Weird noise.

Hello RX8 Club. I've been lurking these forums for 3+ years reading all of the guides and whatnot. It's unfortunate that my first post has to be regarding a fault in the ol' 8.
I've owned my 2004 for about 2 years now. Recently, this started happening:

It only happens at 1st, 2nd, and neutral. Once I get up to 3+ the noise stops or at least becomes unoticable. It's only on when the A/C is working, as shown in the video. I noticed lately that the a/c has also been weaker than usual. I checked the freon levels and it seemed fine. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? My best guess is compressor going out which would be bad because in less than 2 weeks I was planning on making a 800m trip. Kinda bummed out

It sounds like you have the problem located (the A/C Compressor). It's only making noise when the compressor clutch is engaged.
If you can make the trip without using A/C, you shouldn't have any problems.

Check the classifieds for RX8's that are being parted out. You will save a lot of money over buying from the dealer or even getting a rebuilt one.
