Why is everyone pounding on the OP for this? He's got the battery tied down, and it's a modern sealed type.

Never had any real problem with the battery in my Alfa's trunk. The only time I ever had a spill was when I loaned the battery to my brother, and when he returned it he just tossed it in and it rolled over. Never tipped over while driving.

Because a DIY thread needs to be held to a standard that at least isn't dangerous.........

As hoss stated, if people didnt point out our the dangers of this then others will see it and think hey this is easy ill do it too.

Sure chances are if its tied well it wont tip over when driving, but think of the other issues, the breaker/fuse and the wire gauge size, what happens if there is a accident? Short? Fire?

Even if nothing happens to the OP's car, what about the next Joe Bloke that follows this DIY and something happens to him?

Having been electrocuted once when i was younger, i never take chances when it comes to electrical items. Think that should be the case for anyone.

My relocation has 10 Gauge wiring , a proper battery holder breaker/fuse on the battery and another one in the front with a positive terminal similar to euro cars.

The battery holder is bolted down, and the entire holder costed no more then $70 bucks. Simply put the way the battery is held down by the OP wont even pass roadworthy here.

That being said, i have seen worse... a rx7 battery, full size 60 buck battery from Kmart, secured with power cables and... Velcro.

0AWG, nice. Yeah, they make some cool mounts for the Optimas. I had to dump my Optima, it just gave me too many problems. So far so good with the odyssey. We had a local FD owner who had his battery just sitting in the hatch unsecured. That car was such a clusterf@#k.

FD arnt cheap here either, but they mod it like its a 10k car

Could have made do with 12 gauge, but ended up with 10 gauge, since i have a audio setup aswell, nothing extreme but, just a 10 inch sub and a awesome pair of splits/tweeters deleted rear parcel shelf speakers to let the sub port in using those holes. Its awesome for the front passengers.. screw the rear passengers anyways XD.

I had the exact opposite experience, the Odyessey PC925 died on me after 6-8 month, will loose charge completely over night, had to have a trickle charger on it like 24/7. Got fed up with dead battery.... got a full sized optima one... had to make up the weight on the rear for all the front chargers/coolers anyhow haha

It's not in the DIY section. This site has other "How to" threads that didn't make the cut to be real DIYs. This thread just seems a bit harsh, especially for the new member forum where we're supposed to pretend to be nice guys.

Thank you for your DIY. Every one must take things here with a grain of salt i've learned . I am not quite clear on the positive battery post 60 amp breaker and how exactly and where to mount it, but i have some reading to do.

I have to say , the dubious authority remark was indeed funny( insert egg on face) lol. Don't let the dogs get you down, after all dogs are dogs that's what they do. Thank you.
