WV Owner/Drivers
Random question, but my 8 is running hotter than it should...all oil levels are topped off and coolant is good also...is this normal in the 90 plus degree days we have had? dash showed 105 yesterday and the needle was straight up and down, where it usually runs a few bars lower than that on lower temp days

Are you using your AC full-time on these hot days?
To be honest, I used mine Tuesday and that was it.
Being a heat/humidity-tempered Floridian, I usually drop my windows and open the sunroof if it's not raining... but not Tuesday!
It's not unusual to be a couple bars closer to center on your gauge on smoking hot days either. I hear some nearly scary stuff when our 8 drivers in desert conditions use their AC in 100+ temps. Some actually see their gauges "sweep" up and down the temp ranges. Quite possibly water pump cavitation.
I think you should be okay as long as it doesn't dip 2/3 of the way over and remain- or keep rising.
My past owned turbo rotaries actually showed cooler temps due to the fan running full time.
I've been in the state... I have been flying over the Boy Scout Jamboree (chopper) and then confined to the office most of the past week. I got a chance to roll my fenders some more Monday night.
I noticed your 8 parked at your place in the past couple weeks early evenings (who could not notice???)...
I plan to go to the Tennis Tournament during the evening at Kanawha City if weather permits this weekend... I'll keep you posted.
That happened to be you I saw in the carwash yesterday? On Big Tyler? Couldnt find a good parking spot by the road so you could see the wheels, got them finished. Took 5 plus hours but i think they turned out quite well for now. posted some pics up.

Wow, wish you woulda stopped by, anxious to see in person.
I plan to do the same with mine after I dismount the
Pirellis.
Hey, post some pics in this thread too!!!
Had a chance to check out my no name exhaust while i was underneath it, i need to get a new setup quick. the stock mid pipe is still in place and the stock cat looks horrible, very rusty looking and banged up apparently previous owner hit something real good with it, high centered something i suppose. the exhaust is in worse shape, very low quality, rusty, and the gaskets are basically falling apart to the touch so i wont be surprised if i have exhaust leaks in my near future. you happen to have any old set ups laying around youd part with for cheap for the time being? i really want to go catless or gutted cat badly, i think my loss in power might have to do with a clogged one, very flat up top now when driven hard just feels like its revving for now reason. definitely need to get with you soon when you are free and change the plugs and coils and wires, and id really like to get rid of this hot air intake if you know anyone that has a stock box i can get for the time being. has to be better than this k&n garbage that is on here, i can actually feel it bog on hot days because its sucking that immensely hot engine bay heat. cant wait to free up some money as soon as business starts back up, i just ordered a nice shift **** to compliment the interior, always wanted a ball shaped shift **** and my stock one is very warn otherwise i would keep it. my new one is weighted so we will see how that feels. Just feels good to mod my car even in the smallest of ways, thoroughly enjoy driving it after mods. after painting the stock wheels ive had people actually stop me in traffic to tell me how good it looks lol and the other day i walked out of the office to find people actually walking circles around it and a few kids telling me how "awesome my ride was". I have a new found love for cars again, I was always a high reving honda guy through and through, and now I think I will be totally dedicated to the rotary for life. couldnt ask for a better vehicle, next step....I badly want an FD as a project car, and build this to carve through corners and look as sexy as we know they can! Any help or guidance on the exhaust or intake upgrades would be greatly appreciated, i know youve been in this awhile and didnt know if you had anything laying around that could help me out for the time being. Thanks so much!

Also, it's almost funny how you walk up on people at times while they are circling your car...

I was working in the Harper's Ferry area last fall/winter (left the 8 home), sorta in your area.
I did see a couple 8's up that way back then. What does yours look like? Seen or met up with any other owner/drivers up there?
If you're ever in the area, give us a shout here on the forum.

I have been to Summit point. I haven't raced there yet. I really want to do their Friday night at the track with an instructor sometime in the near future. I was at Hyperfest over there a few months ago (24hrs of Lemons was awesome!).

Just to clarify, the BBQ is at my place after Autox, not actually at the track.

About Summit Point: I haven't taken my 2nd 8 there yet.
Had a blast the couple times I did make it.
I bet the 24 Hrs of Lemons was fun!!!
I'll stay in touch, thanks.
Could it be possible that my thermostat was causing this heat issue? only happens after about 5k rpms that the needle rises just a bit, then it seems the thermostat opens and the gauge goes back to normal. no overheating in traffic or sitting still, and no overheating cruising on highway or anywhere else in any gear for that matter. this heat issue is getting annoying and its building up pressure enough to spray coolant all over my bay once every few days, which sucks refilling constantly and smells bad lol and sucks to clean up. otherwise runs fine, no loss of power or idle issues really, im stumped here. i dont think itd be a waterpump issue but could be wrong there also. REALLY need some help here ! HAHA going to take a trip upstate soon to see my aunt who was just diagnosed with parkinsons and dont wanna have car issues on the way.

They discuss every possibility.
If you're in a pinch, take it by Lester and have them check it out.
Keep me posted.
