Tell me when you go install your clutch, I want to check that out.

Hahah, thats funny..it took a drive of a STI to realize your clutch wasn't engageing.

My car is still in the shop. Its been there since Monday..with no word. So thats never good. So I guess there may be a real issue with my tranny. Hopefully I will find out by the end of the day.

I would want a 20B engine.

I knew we would have to use the 12A becuase of the size. The 13B block is too big. You can get a 3 Rotar 12 A in a FD or FC body. ( I have seen it done before thats why I want to do it bad)

:D Don't know if the clutch or just the hydraulics are going in over the weekend...mothers day and all, the rents will be on thier boat all weekend.

Actually, if you move the radiator forward, the 20B is the motor you're going to see more often. Mounts for the 20B are available for the FC for ~250-500...it'll bolt right up to a 13BT transmission.

An 18A (12A three rotor? ) would require a custom milled eshaft, or welding (ughhhh) an extra chunk of a 12A eccentric shaft onto another. I'll try and dig up some info, there was a company in England that made some funky engines with custom eshafts as well as the 13B based 4 rotor (that landed in a BMW of all things) with the custom shaft out of Australia.

Of course there the whole is it even necessary arguement...a decent 20B implant would run ~10-15K, labor excluded...what kind of TQ/HP numbers are desired...NA, turbo?

To tell you the truth... I would like to do it because it would be a challange.

I don't know what kind of HP/Tourque numbers it would be capable off. I just think it would be a cool summer project. Get my butt out of the house and away from the computer and learn more about rotaries.

But, if you could reaserch some custom E shafts that would be cool. The 20b Engine would be rediculasly awsome.. But, once again..run of the mill. Also would be working on a 13b.. Where is the fun?

.

Okay guys...this is a kinda disturbing post.

Yesterday some co-works in my office come back and they said they saw somebody driving my car off by woodman road.

I was like...its in the shop, its getting worked on..its probably the mechanic.

So, I was like let me call down to CAP MAZ to see if it was finished... When I called them..they service writer was like..well..the car was in the finished stack but the mechanic took it back and said its not done yet...

Hmmm...why do you think that could mean???

Hopefuly I didn't make a mistake in letting them investigate with my car.

But, I guess I am playing wing man on this one...takeing one for the team... So if your 8's start haveing the same issue they will have some experience fixing it.

Why would they be all the way back by woodman road with it? That's a ways down Parham! Did you note the miles when you took it in? I think you should flat out tell them someone saw your car being driven out there, and you want to know what was going on.

BTW, I can't make tonight- got an invitation for homemade beer-cheddar fondue for dinner, and we can't pass that one up! I'd do both, but our friends live way out past Flat Rock in Powhatan, and it's just too much driving.

Saw a black 8 with a GT package this morning on Powhite- was driven by a dark haired woman, so I'm assuming it was an auto. Didn't recognize the plates, so don't think it was anyone here.

Guys..

Got my car back today..and I have to say I am impressed with Capital Mazda.

They found a bur on the reverse gear that was giveing me problems with shifting into reverse.

The also found some burs and funky build up on the clutch. They took them down and now my transmission feels AWSOME.

I was FLOORED in the feel of my tranny and clutch. ALL the gears shift much better now. Much stiffer and more accurate. Now clutch is gripping and feel like a new clutch.

WOW...WOW...WOW...

The mechanic said that he talked to Mazda and they admited they are haveing problems with revers so I suspect a TSB to be relased regarding this.

I got a paper today (unusual) and checked out the car section (even more unusual). Carmax has a Red Automatic for $24,998 (12K miles). Whitten is selling a new Automatic w/sport package for $23,562.

Particularly since MSRP for an AUTO w/sport package is about $27,600 with minimum options.

Probably means they are not selling well (gas mileage? power? flooding?).

Josepi was riding shotgun with you? I'm surprised he would bring himself down to our level with that sick ride of his! Hahaha!

I've had an "all rotary weekend", too. I've been pricing flywheels, those SSR comps and catbacks all day! mmmmmm......can't wait to start spending money......

Yeah this weekend was fun. Too bad there were no victims for the 12A engine donation. We should've ripped them off from the two rx7's at autocross. :D

I know it is south of the "Rivah" but you may want to check it out anyway. Woodfins Used Auto Parts over on Genito Road shows a bunch of 12As in their on-line inventory. Three examples:

Low Mileage (less than 176000)
1982 MAZDA MOTORS MAZDA RX7 Engine $657.91

Average Mileage (176000 to 308000)
1982 MAZDA MOTORS MAZDA RX7 Engine $526.33

High Mileage (over 308000)
1982 MAZDA MOTORS MAZDA RX7 Engine $447.38

Check out https://www.woodfins.com/ You can also check out http://www.mazdadragracing.com/indexpage.html for additional engine parts.

I liked our friends solution... Go to the junk yard...rip out the engine...break down the rotar houseing and walk it out the door and say its a radiator....
