I might swap the RE 13b Rx7 motor in to the 8 or actually buy a FD... they both will come out to the same price so lets see

EDIT--- Remember go big or go home. I was looking at buying a new car, but realized it wouldn't be a smart thing to do right now. So I will continue on with my 8. Except this time I'll be moving at lightning speed. =]

it also doesnt help the fact that people have been theorizing that those coils are the cause for motors to blow

Amen. I had financing and all the paperwork in place and was ready to pick up an 08 Evo X GSR with only 22,000 miles on it. I was really staring at the documents that I needed to sign to make the car mine. But alas, I chose not too go through with it at the final hour.
I've got some other big things happening for me this year and last thing I need is to get into another car for street cred, going fast, w/e.
My 8 is a great, modern, RELIABLE car, and it's paid off. She's treat me right and she's staying.

Theories but no proof. I find it highly unlikely.

Key word is "Theorizing"

There's a theory that aliens live among us, but its just a theory....

Just saying Dave.... Lets end that there.

YES YES AL. Same for me. I got approved for a Cadillac CTS V coupe. I swear I was about to buy the damn car and just realized I didn't want to get into another payment for another 5 years, and have that on my credit report. i want a ******* house. So the 8 stays. and I'll pay cash for my upgrades.

sheesh remind me not to talk anymore..because im definetly out to get you omar..its my sole mission in life..its what i live for, without it idk what id do

the only reason its still just a theory is because nobody has the ***** and the bank to test it properly

and yes al you definetly no the dwell time of the ls1 vs the stock coils and how it may or may not effect our engines based on timing at all rpms

Yea Yea I know your out to get me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO

whats sucks about the internet is people can interpret typed words the wrong way...

All I can say is Big name turbo companies are using them for there kits now so thats good enough for me. And if you dont like the dwell setting then get a cobb and change them lol =]

I'm not claiming to be an expert but yes I know exactly how the ls1 coil specific dwell settings affected my motor at all RPM's and Load's because that's exactly how I tuned it with the Accessport. With that said, people who know alot more then me (and sell the kit for the rx8) market the coils as -not- needing to have the dwell adjusted in an rx8 that isn't F/I. I think what happened with Omar was a fluke, I'm sure no one will ever exactly know why his motor went, but the dwell and the coils had nothing to do with it imo.

How would they come out to the same price? I wouldn't have thought the 13b swap would be that much. I always thought more people didn't do this because of OBDII worries and not finding places to you know, fudge stuff. If you are considering that, what about 3 rotor n/a?

Na I'm not out to do something different. I just want some power with out messing up the handling of the car. I would turbo the 8. that would be cheapest, but a turbo RE is more reliable than a rensis turbo imo. That can be up for debate, but thats just how I feel. And there more power to be had with the RE.

Omar doesn't need to worry about that with his plates ... you can run a 13b-RE on the stock ECU if you have COBB ... and possibly pass inspection! I am personally researching this right now ... how to get it to work... I am thinking a combination of COBB + Power FC

Odds are you would run the Cobb to lie to the factory ecu to make it think theres still an engine and a full stand alone to actually run the RE, no matter what your going to need the stock ecu to run the cars systems

Makes sense to me, wether or not its that simple is another thing in itself

Well guys its been done before check the forums. Speed1 has done one for a guy in Queens and he's running 400+whp daily and everything seems to work GOOD!!! Thats where I plan to go for my swap. The first weekend of March I plan to go to the Speed1 shop to speak to Dave and get my plan in motion. Anyone is welcome to take the trip with me.

Yeah ... I've talked with Dave about that ... he had to hook up a bunch of things in the side of the engine bay to make sure that no CELs were illuminated.

They are running it on a combination of int-x and stock ECU. IMO that is less than an optimal set-up if you have a power FC available.

I think that with COBB, you could get it to run WITHOUT a standalone... however, I would prefer a MAP based system akin to the power FC.....

With COBB, you get much more control over rpm activated points that are no longer used with the POWER FC ... also a third set of injectors as well!!! You can use that for soooo much ... water/meth .... NOS .... shift light ... you name it

The stock ECU is truly powerful....

this is kinda my longterm thing I am considering ... either this OR a hybrid 13B + Renesis

IN related news .... I am thawing out!!!! When is the next meet!?!??!
