That's a very good idea. I'd like to see more rotaries around home. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to make it on the 6th. I'll be on-track again at Summit Point that day.

...and I am a huge Mazda fan...had a 99 Miata, 04 Miata, 04 Mazda3 and an 88 Mazda 323 GTX. My RX-8 will be #5. I can't wait. I want someone with a 20B to come...
323GTX! Very nice. Very rare. If you want a 20B there and don't care what it's in, get in touch with George Samuels. He has a wide-body FC convertible with a 20B.

RX7's and RX8's and really, anything with a rotary is welcome. No pistons allowed! ;-)
I'm sure you could drum-up some RX-7's from the RX7club, and I might be able to drum a few 7's and 8's up from the Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington.

If I plan something for first saturday in december...who would come out? We'd have a cook out, discount on parts and service, of course a car show, etc. should be a good time.

Like I said, 1st saturday in December...

Sounds cool, I might be up for coming out if the other folks in the area want to train up there. It's about an hour from my place, but time flies if you are driving with other 8s.

Was it loud, dirty, and moving fast?

If it was, somebody stole my car because I'm still at work. Better still be in my garage where I left it!

Cool, so you guys would be down for it then?

Rotr8, you have an SC in your 8? PLEASE come by so I can see it...

Wankelbolt, I actually just stumbled across the car. It was on craigslist for like $1000. I saw the car, sat for 2 yrs, AWD system was broken, car didnt start, etc. It was on the way to the heap and I saved it. Swapped in a Miata motor, bigger turbo, fixed the AWD, cranked the boost, etc. In fact, some guy in an RX8 said "I want to buy your car" while I was at a red light. Had it for a few months, then turned around and sold it to a guy for $3500. One of the coolest cars I've ever had. My wife just didnt get it. She said it was a pile of crap - a fast pile of crap. I used to chirp 2nd...actually, it would spin 2nd and get sideways in the rain. The turbo was wound up to about 22psi. 0-7psi was laggy, but 8-22 spooled super fast. Man I miss that car.

If you are interested in a meet up here, 1st weekend of december, email me at russ@cookautomotive.com so I can get a head count, and keep you updated. 7's and 8's and anything w/ out pistons are welcome.

Also, if you guys just want a place to hang out and meet ANY time...I'd be fine with that, just give me a heads up so I can be sure to accomodate.

Very nice. Great, mad cars. Nothing like it until the MAZDASPEED3 for just shear madness. Thanks for saving it.

Not many do. Kids, shoes, pets, draperies, they get. Cars? no.

As for the meet, I probably won't make it. Even if I just do a half-day at the track, still a two-hour ride (at extra-legal speeds ) to get to Aberdeen. What would the hours be for the meet?

Open track day for FATT instructors. Kind of a "thanks for jumping into stranger's cars and trusting they won't kill you" day.

Good times indeed!

Hope to see you in that capacity next year.

The rest of this year will be saving cash for track time, helmet, another set of Kumhos for late summer '09 because I've chunked the current ones , and PLANNING to take time away from the office for the first time in 35 years. This "losing vacation days 'cause you don't take them" crap is getting old.

I seriously doubt my TC will be in by then... I'm trying to dig myself out of wedding debt, getting BHR ignition upgrade, and finding a decent shop to do the install locally since I don't have a garage and Maryland winter is cold enough I don't want to be sitting outside with the car up on jackstands freezing my *** off.

Congrats on getting boosted Rotr8, everytime someone posts a boosted thread I turn a brighter shade of green and go downstairs to hug my GT2871R.

...I have a garage with an Engine hoist, and a good assortment of tools. I did the turbo on my SVT Focus (and yanked the motor after I blew it), did the SC in my Miata...twice...so I kinda have an idea. I also used to work on Ferrari Challenge cars and spent a little time as a mechanic. I'd like to see whats involved with the GReddy turbo as I know my 8 will get one. I kinda need to get my 8 first...I might could do it for you, but I'd like to have a look at it first.

Hope to see you out there. It's a lot of fun. Watch those videos I posted a page back.
Keep your eye on the FATT schedule and sign up early, as the Novice group sells out months in advance.

No such problems here. Between track days and family, I used every vacation day I get! You won't regret using them to flog your RX-8.

BTW, Summit Point loans out helmets for FATTs, but it is nice to have your own.

Well, I can always bring my collection of toys up to the meet and you can poke around if you like.
