Ressurrecting thread???

I'd like to poll MD 8-ers about service departments... I've had two years of good experiences with mine, but my favorite mechanic seems to have dissappeared and they recently botched, of all things, a TIRE installation job! lol...shaking head...crying.

I need to find a great service department!!! Preferably near Baltimore city... Any suggestions? All welcome and appreciated.

Hopefully will see some of you tonight at A-mills, too.

I just took mine to Rich Morton in Pasadena. Had great service, make sure you talk to Frank Titus in service.

I'll second this. Rich Morton does a great job, and Frank is knowledgeable, honest and easy to deal with.

W'sup..just checkin in. I just got my brilliant black 8 two weeks ago. I'm from Ellicott City. You'll probably see me around Columbia, EC, Balt., Arundel, Snowden, and VA. give me a honk if you see me. i still have a temp. tag.

Oh yeah, i have two quick questions:
1) I'm tryin to get my windows tinted...anyone know a good place? my friends got tints for their cars, but warned me of the shops dripping **** all over the inside. i was wonderin if anybody knew a place nearby where they do tints w/o a big mess.

2) Do MD cops pull you over for clear corners?

thanks! sry for the long message. as you can see, im a noob with cars.

Wassup TBG, Welcome to the group. Im in E-City too... Look out for the velocity red RX8 flying down 100 like a bat out of hell! For your questions here are your answers..

1.) Before someone jumps out acting like a dick preaching searching here is the link to the post with that information https://www.rx8club.com/ne-rx-8-forum-29/good-place-get-tint-md-92256/. I know how it is to be new man

2.) No cops dont pull you over for clear corners however they will try and nail you in some counties about your tint. I dont think you have to worry about that too much in Howard, Anne Arundel, or PG County unless the cop is a dick with nothing better to do with his time.

Anything else feel free to ask. Also be sure to read over the thread I stared called "New Maryland Rx8 Meet" (https://www.rx8club.com/ne-rx-8-forum-29/new-maryland-rx8-meet-95575/) We have already done a meet but more are comming so keep an eye on that thread because theres always something new in there. Oh yeah the people in there are pretty cool so dont be afraid to ask them any questions too!

Hope that helps you some.

Ive never heard of any cop pulling over any car with clear corners at all. Even cars like honda's or something that have them too. It doesnt serve as a distraction (in my opinion) like undercarrage lights or something. I think you should be fine. Besides im going to be getting some clear corners for my ride too

Question about greddy turbo kit

hey i am new to the forum and will be picking up a rx8 at manheim next friday! so excited. Just a quick question, i tried looking through out the web and forum and can't find out whether the greddy turbo kit is legal in maryland. legal as in emissions testing unless theres things i should worry about when having the kit besides getting pulled over ^_^;;

Legal to use in MD... Yes, Its very much legal for off road use (like anyone ever uses these things off road )

Will it pass emissions (sp) ... HELL NO!

If you are buying the car out of state, do the emissions thing first and then get the turbo installed. Not the other way around.

If you buy the car in state the inspection is already done before its sold (most of the time anyway) so you shouldnt have to worry about it until inspection time. I think we have to re-do inspections every 2 years I think....

Honestly I think your biggest concern in this state when it comes to a turbo is how much your going to be paying in fuel costs.

Hope that helps

Edit: By the way, welcome to the club

Landon is correct. In MD, emissions testing rears its head every two years and you will not pass with a turbo. However, as Landon mentioned, there are work arounds...

dd sends...

yeah I wouldnt go about getting a turbo right now anyway, at least not until Mazda figures out what the hell theyre doing with our freaking engines. It was on the news that they put the recall out and then I called Fitzgerald the next day and they said not yet. I wish I knew cause Im about to dump a lot more money into my car but not if the engine is gonna crap out on me.

'course i remember! if the BBQ is on for Labor Day weekend, I'll be in NYC visitin' the folks... I ordered a mid-pipe and something else from Mazsport (makers of the Interceptor-X) , so the car will be back on the dyno for some more tuning here in the near future.
