Hey guys, I just ordered all the parts for my engine refresh, If anyone wants to help out of observe the Engine removal or rebuild, I'll be working on it April 4th after the Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee big annual thing and probably through the 5th as well, maybe with a delay if I need hard parts.

The car is dyno'ing about 155whp on 75 psi compression so im hoping to pick up at least 15-20 whp just with this and hopefully a good boost in fuel economy as well, I'll be satisfied to get compression up to 90psi, but really Id love to see the top spec 120+ if possible.

We shall see, if it goes well and you guys are interested I'll consider rebuilds for anyone
who is in need of one.

I wish I could make it out... but I work Saturdays, still I'll check with Jessica about that Sunday. I think it might be time to update that sig of yours... "No Mods" lol. Either way, good luck man! I'm sure it will go well though with your superior engineering skills and what not.

Thanks Jon! rebuild is in progress, the rotor housings were bad as expected so the rebuild tally is now pushing $3k! but my motor should be very much 'like new' when I'm done.

If you guys are interested in following along I'm posting pics and comments up on facebook as I go, my profile is open so you all are welcome to follow my sig link and check it out. And don't be bashful about asking questions or sending a friend request.

I'm hoping to be up and running by the 19th which is the first points event of the year for WDCR SCCA, and I don't want to have to throw on my Darth Vader helmet for it ;-)

Ok, the Rotor housings arrived today and I have the keg assembled, tomorrow I'm going to dress the engine and maybe maybe put it in place, I'm hoping for a Thursday afternoon startup. I hope everything goes well.

I'll need to put a few hundred mellow miles on the car followed by an oil change before I can race it, so I'm planning a nice long relaxed cruise for Saturday if any of you guys have favorite roads nearby to suggest I'm all ears.

First SCCA points event is the 19th at FedEx field, I'll see what I can do in CS with my new horsepowers :-)

there's some good back roads down rt 3 in the annapolis/waugh chapel area by me

we would have to go late though, and dry roads are very much preffered. late being midnight or later so they will be pretty empty

backroading is a regular occurrence for my buddies and i throughout spring/summer/fall

Well, is it done?!? It will be interesting to see what your post-rebuild power and compression looks like. BTW, I have a rotary-specific compression tester too.

Front Bumper needed!

I dumped my car off my trailer last fall and am just getting around to fixing it.

The top lip is torn almost completely off. I need another cover fast, or tips on welding/gluing it back toagether! Anybody have either?

Rebuild done, car feels much better now :-), I placed 3rd in CS today, now I want new tires to complement my fresh motor, but I did discover my cat needs replacement anyone have one for sale?

Wankelbolt thank you so much for the use of the crane and stand, I'm happy to drop them off to you whenever is convenient for you :-)

Here's a VD plot, I'm going to do a legit dyno session in the next couple of weeks:

i have some spare cats laying around
you can just have one (or all) for free, need to be welded on, but free cats are free cats. were working when pulled, idk how much "life" is left in them

Thanks Chris, but I actually pulled the cat off and it was ok, *shrug* I think the problem is my VDI and SSV solenoids, I was going to pick some up off of laxxman's spare engine

Lightbulb MAX-46 Mazda Club Autocross - May 23 in Bowie

Nathan, I have an early RP Supercat with something like 5000 miles on it. Looks like RP doesn't even sell RX-8 exhaust parts anymore!

Also, time to register for MAX-46! Get 6-8 runs for $35, 12-16 runs for $70. Bargain.

Likewise! Good times.
And may I say you are a complete nut-job! That was some unbelievable wheeling in that Insight.
I was expecting it to burst into flames and a shower of sparks at any moment.

Now, for your entertainment, my best run:

I must ask Bill what the "...dammit..." was about, that looked pretty good! The course was crazy short and super tight! but i think it was a good cherry popper for the Insight :-) And it didnt explode!

Shoobs, I'm doing an Autocross on the 7th with Autocrossers Inc in Waldorf, so no ECRC for me :-P

Maybe next year, besides it doesn't fit with my principle against going to the "first annual" anything ;-)

Just checking in here, recently moved back to Baltimore, fed hill specifically. Look for blue with black rims/badges. Looking for a short shifter and a stock exhaust right now, pm me if you can help me out. Thanks!

Thumbs up Nordic Green Mica Series 1 RX-8 across Bay Bridge

Just checking in. Lots of times during the work week when I'm going through the EZ Pass lane for the Bay Bridge I'll see a Nordic Green Mica RX-8 that sounds like it has an aftermarket exhaust traveling westbound off of the bridge around 5:00 pm (don't remember exactly; may be earlier/later).

What's up! I'm in the Velocity Red Mica Series II going in the other direction back to the Eastern Shore from DC. I've been home for the past couple of weeks with a newborn, so haven't been out there for a while. Sometimes I'm on my motorcycle too.

Anybody have a differential? Mine start grumbling very badly on the Shenandoah track last weekend. At least I think it's the diff based on symptoms. 10,000 miles on race tracks will wear that out.
